Doc Jonez is a New Soul band, founded by Lenny, which combines the best of old soul music with fresh RnB and New Soul influences.
Romany Titre was born in 1988 in Hilversum, Holland. She started singing even before she could talk, wrote her first song at the age of three and since then never stopped writing. Romany started to learn music at an early age with her mother teaching her sightreading and solfege. At age six Romany started to play the violin, at the age of twelve she wrote her first musical, took her first singing lessons and joined the choir of Kinderkoor Akademie Nederland. With the choir of Romany recorded several CD's, participated in international choir competitions and performed all over Europe including in 'het Concertgebouw van Amsterdam'. In 2001 they won the first price at the National Children's Choir Festival.
Inspired by her musical experiences with the choir, she decided to futher develop her music skills and at age 14 Romany got accepted to the Young Talent Class at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague where she studied singing for 4 years. Here she got classically schooled in singing and piano and later in jazz as well. In the mean time she continued writing music and won the first price in The Hague at Kunstbende, Hollands biggest competition for young creative talent. This brought her to the finals in Amsterdam where she won the national second price which led her to perform at Musicon, the Tv-show Bruja and at Radio Discus. To add to her musical deversity, Romany moved to Amsterdam in 2006, where she studied popmusic for a year at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and further developted her singing, piano and songwriting skills. Here she began performing in bars and clubs across Amsterdam like Meander, Sugar Factory and Sappho. Later that year she has had the privilege to perform one of her own songs with the famous Dutch pianist Cor Bakker.
Without a doubt 2008 has been an exciting year for Romany. Besides pondering the human psyche in now her second year of Psychology studies at the University of Amsterdam, she performed as a featured artist on Stage Factory, as a special guest in the Schouwburg of Almere and won the second price (Singer-Songwriter) at the Amsterdam Student Festival. "Romany 'is' her music and that's biggest thing you can accomplish as a Singer/Songwriter" the jury commented.
Inspired by artists such as Nick Drake, India Arie, Vanessa Carlton, John Mayer and Sondre Lerche she has created her own repertoire which variates from old school jazz to pop, soul & RnB as long as it ouzes musicality. So no wonder, her music project are just as diverse.
Trough out the year Romany played with the Amsterdam Funk Connection, with which she regularly performed in Amsterdam. More recently she also joined Doc Jones, a New Soul band which combines the best of old soul music with fresh RnB and New Soul influences. Futhermore Romany recently founded her own jazz ensemble which will play a combination of old jazz standards and her own work.
Besides playing with her bands Romany regularly collaborates with other artist and producers and loves to share her passion for music. She is currenly writing and recording for The New Soul Project, on which she will be a featured artist. So far Romany has found her musical journey through life nothing short of wonderful. It's been an inspirational, creative and informative appeasement full of insights, growth and some of the most amazing people you'll ever meet. Who know's what the future will bring...
om gelijk met de deur in huis te vallen, je zag er goed uit afgelopen vrijdag. en leuk ook dat je er was. maar een vraag. een kennis van mij heeft een leuke POPsoul band. ze hebben een contact bij Emi geloof ik maar ze zoeken nog een backing vocal. ze hebben al een man en dat is mijn broer. en hij vroeg of ik nog iemand wist. en ik moest aan jou denken. als je het leuk vind. leuke mensen frisse muziek. check het eff.. hij heet willem bijkerk artiesten naam Waylon. google het maar eff. ik wou je bellen maar heb je telefoon nummer niet meer. so think about it!!!! en laat mij het snel weten.

Hee Romany! :-) Dankje! Ik speel als 1e maandag, in de bovenzaal Paradiso (New Moon Festival), van 21:00 tot 21:20. Er zijn verschillende singer-songwriters, en in de grote zaal ernaast speelt Ani DiFranco. Tof als je komt! Hoe gaat het met jou? Veel liefs x Fab.
Tja, ik zit thuis, maar dat is niet omdat ik vakantie aan het vieren ben... Ben op zoek naar een nieuwe baan, maar het contract van mijn laatste werkgever werd niet verlengd (wat ze 1 dag voor het einde van mijn contrac vertelden..). Dus druk op zoek naar nieuw werk. maandag alweer mijn eerste sollicitatiegesprek. Eindelijk! :P ik heb nu al genoeg van het thuiszitten, en op zoek zijn naar vacatures (moet min 1x per week solliciteren, anders word ik gekort op mijn WW uitkering, scrale bende). hoe het gebeurt is, valt te lezen op mijn SellAblog.
Maar ik hoop dat je een leuke vakantie gehad hebt tot zover :)
