Currently mixing down a CD version of the 10" vinyl trilogy "TROTH" and working on new recordings for the full-length Lp "Archie's Bunker".
ROMULUS+REMUS began in 1997 as a dj duo, being Scott Rautmann and Else Teicher. We played all over the city of Portland, Oregon until about 2002. Our sets ranged as vastly as our gigs; We pioneered a long running drum'n'bass night, Fetish events, hip restaurants, Psychick Youth Rallies, gallery openings, private parties, live music shows and even a few weddings!! One of the funnest regular gigs we had was at the EAGLE PDX, Portland's -then- hardcore gay leather bar, where we played Fridays & Saturday nights for about a year and a half. We hosted several multi-turntable events called "Worlds Collide" and held one infamous two day music experiment where we dj'd with live accompaniment for 23 hours straight at the Planet Morrison.
In 1999 ROMULUS+REMUS issued its first recording through the Dutch label STAALPLAAT RECORDS, entitled "FALL GELB". This release was issued in an edition of only 15 CD copies in jewelcase with blockprinted artwork. The recording consisted of original material by both members, Scott and Else, each contributing about a half hour of what we termed "black electronic subterfuge".
From 2002 through 2005, ROMULUS+REMUS released several recordings through Beta-Lactam Ring Records, most notably, beginning the vinyl 10" trilogy "TROTH" with the records "HECATE" and "ZALMOSIS". Although Else was often to contribute, recordings from here on were the artistic expression of Scott Rautmann. ROMULUS+REMUS records during this period were, as they continue to be to this day, presented in hand made sleeves with original artwork, often derived from woodblock printing.
2005 birth'd the independent artist's path for ROMULUS+REMUS, where the project has since put forth the full length Lp "GHARBZADEGI" as well as concluding the "TROTH" 10" trilogy with the title "IDUNNA".
The second part of the trilogy "The
Empty
Circle" by The Joy of Nature, entitled «Rastos de Sangue e fragmentos da
Tradição», has been now released by Ahnstern and it is available at The Joy of Nature's store.
In this second part a lot more instruments were used and more
musicians collaborated, like R. Coutinho, B. Ardo (Sangre Cavallum), Rui
Almeida (Massa Última), Triarca, Mara Neves and M.J.
Not only a reaction against the modern world, but
an alternative to this post-modern world.
