Rona's musical genres run the gamut to keep listeners 'on edge'. With storytelling and mood-setting, she uses 1st, 2nd & 3rd person narratives to address satirical social and taboo subjects, wrapped in melodic familiarity, and served up like medicine with a smooth voice.
Born in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Rona began playing piano at the age of four, singing solo and learning to harmonize. By the age of 11, she began writing lyrics, and composing on both guitar and piano. As a child Rona was exposed to gospel, classical, jazz, Appalachian, bluegrass, (the Stanleys are some of her mothers' cousins).
The Myers family moved to Chicago from '66-'70, without hearing any of the Chicago blues that Rona has come to love over the past fifteen years. But Chicago did expose her to multi-cultural influences, from 'high brow' classical church music to the Vienna Boys' Choir. She participated in a children's radio broadcast of stories and songs.
Rona returned to Chicago as a freshman Voice Major & Piano minor. Since then she has studied Fine Arts at VCU, and continues to spice her musical reportoire with varied roots musics.
