TOP MUSICIANS JOIN RONDI CHARLESTON TO RECORD OBAMA ANTHEM POWER BALLAD –‘SONG FOR THE AGES’

Written To Commemorate Barack Obama’s Historic Election, Song Includes Bassist James Genus of the “Saturday Night Live” band, Drummer Clarence Penn, Billboard-Charting Jazz Pianist Lynne Arriale & Others

Los Angeles, CA, Friday, January 9, 2009 –Several of the nation’s top musicians have joined singer Rondi Charleston to record “Song for the Ages,” an anthem power ballad written by Charleston to commemorate Barack Obama’s historic election to become the 44th President of the United States. In its January 8th show, “Entertainment Tonight” previewed the tune as part of its Inauguration coverage.

A supporter of Barack Obama’s since he launched his presidential campaign, Charleston penned the tune over the course of a few nights after being inspired by Obama’s election night acceptance speech in Grant Park, located near her former home town of Hyde Park, Chicago. With references to Abraham Lincoln and a celebration of ‘faith and hope for what’s to come,’ Charleston says, “I wanted to write an anthem that would both reflect our nation’s history and project our collective hope for the future. My wish is that “Song for the Ages” has a part in motivating others to continue the momentum of unity that Barack has inspired.” In its January 8th show, “Entertainment Tonight” previewed the tune as part of its Inauguration coverage. James Genus, the current bass player in the “Saturday Night Live” band whose birthday falls on Inauguration day says, “I was thrilled to be asked to be a part of this project and I think Rondi was really able to deliver a strong theme of unity with the recording of this song.” Other musicians who played on the track include Pete Levin/synthesizers, who’s worked with Paul Simon, Annie Lennox, Vanessa Williams; Dave Stryker/guitar, who’s worked with Stanley Turrentine, Kevin Mahogany and Clarence Penn/drums, who’s played with Wynton Marsalis, Roberta Flack and Dianne Reeves.

Suzi Reynolds, who has worked with Ella Fitzgerald, Sting, Bruce Springsteen and George Benson produced the track and over the course of one afternoon, brought together some of the most respected and experienced musicians in the world of pop, rock and jazz to complete the song. Reynolds, whose previous producing credits include projects by Teri Thornton and Rufus Reid also brought in jazz pianist Lynne Arriale, who arranged and co-wrote “Song for the Ages.”

“Song for the Ages” will be offered up for radio airplay leading up to the Inauguration festivities and beyond, but will also be made available for purchase on iTunes. Song lyrics, music, broadcast-quality recording session footage and hi-res JPEGs are available upon request.

Charleston, a Juilliard graduate who was also a former Emmy award-winning journalist who worked alongside Diane Sawyer at ABC’s “Primetime Live,” is set to release the full version of her In My Life CD/DVD set in April and will support the release with a full tour schedule in the U.S. For more information and performance updates, visit RondiCharleston. com

Vocalist Rondi Charleston delivers fresh, new intoxicating treatments of The Great American Songbook and Broadway Standards, Pop Classics, compelling originals and exotic Brazilian grooves in her new CD/DVD set, Rondi Charleston - IN MY LIFE. Her sold out performances at Lincoln Center's Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola and overwhelming audience response are captured here, as are spectacular studio tracks from the multi-Grammy-award winning Bennett Studios. Experience, firsthand, why this singer of distinction and poetic ingenuity has audiences and critics raving!

Her considerable poise, presence and sheer talent landed her in Juilliard's Drama Department at age 16 after an audition with the late John Houseman. By 18, she was accepted into Juilliard's Voice Department, graduating with a BM and MM in Music, instantly working internationally in lyric soprano roles. Says Rondi, “the interplay between actors is very much like the interplay between jazz musicians - spontaneous and immediate." Feeling hemmed in by repertoire, a youthful need to expand her horizons, and hungry for the breadth of a more liberal arts education, she sought to further discover the world around her and her place in it. She longed to be a cultural reporter for CBS Sunday Morning and work with the late Charles Kuralt. Her solution - a fellowship in the Master's program at the NYU School of Journalism, graduating two years later, after breaking a major cover up story of a Metro North train crash. It ran in the NY Times, prompting the Dean of NYU to call the head of ABC News to hire her. Virtually overnight, she became an investigative reporter for Prime Time Live, working with Diane Sawyer for the next 6 years, and garnering Emmy and Peabody Awards along the way for her medical investigations. "Don't ask me how I found the time, but I kept singing. One night in 1996 at a gig in the Village, Diane came to see me. After the show she said, 'Rondi, I came because I like you and like working with you, but you never told me you were really good. You could do this.'"

For Rondi, the search for the truth and the core of the story is paramount, whether delving into an investigative report or the lyric of a song. "I think of it as deep sea diving. My job is to dive down deep and bring back the shining pearl to share with everyone. What drives me is my passion to live and breathe my honesty, truth and integrity into every song and story. That's what I hope resonates through me to my audience."

As our trust is never free our minds are always questioning
While our hearts and eyes fornicate silent thoughts, hidden prayers, sighs of our preferences
Clarity of wants dreams, desire, past, present and future all from running veins
A soft sigh as we salivate from new innocents
Lubricated minds, penetrate souls, tearing deep into ones Psyche,
Virtue of words, comments, inspirational thoughts, opinions, arousal, fornicate, reciprocate, attract, touch, blush
Truth realize we fear uncertainty...will we be friends or just another face on page?
