Ron Hendee's Blurbs |
About me:
Ron began playing trumpet at age ten. Knowing he wanted to be a professional musician, he practiced vigouously. By age fourteen, Ron was playing in the all city Junior High School Jazz Band, in Wichita, Kansas. By the time he reached his Sophomore year of high school, he was invited to join the all city Neophonic Orchestra. They were playing Stan Kenton charts from West Side Story. That was where Ron was introduced to flugelhorn. In late fall, of that year, his family was transfered to Everett, Washington. Ron entered into Cascade High School and immediately got assigned to the jazz solo chair in the stage band. In May, of the following year, Ron was selected to the all star band's jaz solo chair at the Olympic College High School Jazz Festival, a high school competition for high schools throughout Washington state.
During that year he was introduced to Jan Jessen, who ran a community jazz ensemble, and was the featured jazz trumpeter for that ban, as well. On the day after his high school graduation, Jan introduced Ron to Jeff Afdem, of the Springfield Rifle. After a brief audition, Ron was offered a job with the band.
During the next six years, Ron toured and performed with many northwest bands. He then entered the Air Force Band and was the featured jazz soloist in the band. Upon returning home, Ron reunited with long time friend, Mark Whitman and was once again playing with several northwest artists.
Up until June of this year, Ron was lead singer and solo trumpeter for a rock group, since 1997. However, through Billy Appleton (blues guitarist), He was welcomed into The Bill Mattocks Band. Since joining the band, Ron has met and performed with many blues artists from all over. Ron's choices, in music are jazz, fusion, rhythm & blues, blues, and espicially funk.
This northwest musician has played, performed, recorded, opened for, and sat in with such great artists and bands as WAR, Kenny (Blues Boss) Wayne, Scotty Harris (Saxes), Scott Lind (guitar), Randy Oxford (trombone) and The Randy Oxford Band, Billy Stoops (guitar), Mark Whitman(guitar), Chris Leighton (drums/percussion), David Maloney (drums/percussion), Shirley Lorene (blues vocalist), Polly O'Keary (blues vocalist/bass), Tommy Cook (drums), Steve Raible (guitar/bass/vocals), Tim Lerch (guitar, vocals), Nick Vigarino (slide guitar/vocals), CD Woodbury (guitar/vocals), Jim McGlaughlin (harmonica/vocals), Gary Porter (drums), The Greg Marshall Band, Sean Denton and the Gryffyn Band, The Springfield Rifle, Streams, Dos Pesos, The Duoglides, and The Bill Mattocks Band. Most recently, during the Mexican Blues Cruise, Eden Brent, Chico Banks, Bernard Allison, Joe Louis Walker, Tommy Castro, Curtis Salgado, Doug Skoog, Tom Poole, Marcia Ball, Lee Oskar, plus many, many, more. Ron has recently joined up with Polly O'Keary and The Rhythm Method.

Who I'd like to meet:
A nice woman who is honest and comfortable living in her own skin. Age doesn't matter as long as she is mature enough to act like a lady and is warm, caring, and understanding.
