Still looking for musicians to add to lineup e.g. fiddle, dobro, lap steel, mandolin, etc.
Influences
Too many to name but for starters, Dan Fogelberg, Gerry Rafferty, Jonathan Edwards, Gallagher & Lyle, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Joni Mitchell, Judee Sill, Orleans, The Eagles, The Beatles, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, David Gray, Paul Simon, Crowded House. Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Also Trashcan Sinatras, Counting Crows, Uncle Bob, Aberfeldy, The Paperboys, Amos Lee, Lily Holbrook, Hobotalk and Ron Lindsay.
Sounds Like
Americelt / Americana. Melodic songs, good vocals, acoustic and electric. The Byrds meet Gerry Rafferty meets The Beach Boys meet Dougie McLean meets Counting Crows meet The Eagles. Mainly a fusion of roots, folk, country and celtic, - sometimes a diversion to soft rock or indie pop or a mood induced leap to ambient sounds and instrumentals. I just write what I feel and hear.
Following on from the release of Americelt Union in 2005 I’m currently writing
material for another album. I’m also playing guitar and mandolin with Tayside based Silver River Band whose acoustic driven vocal harmony music crosses the genres of Contemporary Folk, Country, Celtic and Soft Rock.
I live in Dundee on the east coast of Scotland. The acoustic sounds and vocal music of singer songwriters such as Gerry Rafferty, Dan Fogelberg, Jonathan Edwards and Crosby Stills Nash & Young were major influences in my early years.
I signed a recording and publishing deal with State Records in 1978. By 1980 a series of life events resulted in my singer songwriter ambitions being placed carefully on the ‘sometime later’ shelf. More than 20 years on, a chance meeting with John Wooler, a Los Angeles based producer with 26 grammy nominations and 6 wins was the catalyst for me to lift the dreams off the sometime later shelf. By 2002 I had started writing again.
Working closely by this time with John, I was introduced to Barbara Orbison who asked if I would record some celtic influenced demos of late husband Roy’s songs. Several weeks later the demos were completed. John and I liked what we had come up with and started Ron making plans to record my debut album.
Americelt Union was released in July 2005 and has been described as ‘an innovative blend of acoustic roots, folk and country laced with the finest celtic cream’.

You can download mp3s from Amazon, Rhapsody, iTunes, etc. Just search for Mobile Wash Unit. I also have some sermons and philosophy videos up on my page here. The Bathtub Test
During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director how do you determine whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.
"Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."
"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup."
"No" said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?"
ARE YOU GOING TO PASS THIS ON, OR DO YOU WANT THE BED NEXT TO MINE ?
