In 1982 Ronnie Hudson and The Street People released a song called, West Coast Poplock" on a record label called, The Street People Record Co, and it was later picked up by the Birdie Record Label in 1985.
Ronnie Hudson was fortunate to have the late Tupac Shakur to remix his song and re-release it as, California Love, which earned Ronnie Hudson a Platinum Plaque in recognition of over 7,000,000 copies sold.
West Coast Poplock has been later released as a soundtrack in Grand Theft Auto video game, and remixed by many artists including the great american icon Snoop Dogg.

The vocal "In the City of Compton" and "California knows how to party" is adapted from Ronnie Hudson and the Street People's "West Coast Poplock".The remix features sample from the song "Intimate Connection" by Kleeer written by Norman Durham and Woody Cunningham.
"California Love" was Shakur's only entry on Rolling Stone's 2004 list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, ranked 346.
West Coast Poplock is a single by Ronnie Hudson and the Street People. The song was then redone by Zapp, in which the vocals mix with another of their singles, "So Rough, So Tough (Out Here)", and later sampled in California Love by Tupac Shakur.
