Influences
Our influences? Probably too many to list, but a partial list would be: The Grateful Dead, NRPS, Hot Tuna, Pat Metheny, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac, Genesis, Jerry Garcia Band, String Cheese Incident, Phish, Simon and Garfunkel, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Allman Brothers, etc.
The Ronnie Penque Band is a rocking jam band lead by Ronnie Penque of The New Riders of the Purple Sage. The RPB stands out in the jam band scene with musical grooves and songs that you can't help but like. The band features strong vocals, smoking harmonies and really cool songwriting. When Ronnie is not touring with the New Riders he's writing songs and working on his new solo project. In addition to writing all of the songs, Ronnie is the lead vocalist and, of course, the bassist. The band also features Ron's brother Chris Penque on rhythm guitar, who has been jamming with Ronnie since they were kids. The genesis of the project occurred when the two Penque brothers formed the Neons Gods a couple of years ago as a duo side project for fun. The boys were then introduced to Jeff and Katie Pearlman. With Katie on drums with her powerful vocals and harmonies and Jeff's keyboard work with his strong vocals and harmonies, the band knew they had something. With the addition of Andy Trister, their fluid lead guitarist, the band rocked and had their own heartfelt sound. Neon Gods was mostly a cover band playing Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Hot Tuna, and NRPS. When Ronnie decided to put a new original project together, he tapped that musical chemistry that worked so well together, and now, the Ronnie Penque Band is destined to be a force to be reckoned with in the jam band scene. Check out the video of Ronnie's original tune, Mallory, that was recorded by the band when they were still the Neon Gods on this page.
Stay tuned. There's so much more to come!

hey all, really enjoyed the music at kelly's last night, my first live exposure to the band. impressed with the tight, organic jams--technical precision infused with creative range. and you fit each other like a glove (there are 5 of you...coincidence?). and you sure have some enthusiastic fans in the crowd! looking forward to the next time you're in the area--oh and i loved the backstory on mallory...
Thanks so much for allowing me to be your friend. Because of you guys, "Mallory" has been playing in my head for almost a week now - LOL. I just wish I didn't live so damn far away from where you guys gig. I could really use a few sets of you guys to perk my ears up. Also, you are correct when you say "Great minds think alike". :)
