InfluencesLet the record be VERY CLEAR! I am not, nor have i ever been anti-police! I have always had respect for a person who is willing to put on a badge to serve the public. I could not do it. The possibility of getting shot at work is something I could not live with. I also have been very public about when i disagree with police department procedure and implementations of procedures that are used in the public domain. I have publicly taken stands against. Driving While Black (DWB) Crack Cocaine Law (designed to attack the Black community) Police brutality (Yes! sometimes it happens) The Blue Code of Silence (too many good officers are put in a bad situation) All the above are in my opinion are serious matters and i will always openly debate the issues. I think the most dangerous one is the Blue Code of Silence. In a military style command structure. The Blue Code of Silence is in direct conflict with the chain of command. Honesty within that structure is of the utmost importance. Many, Many, honest and hardworking Police Officers have to go against their true feelings to protect those who should not be protected.

I do not knowingly friend request people under the age of 17. I set the age at 17 because they are getting close to 18 and should be involved in the debate. Some of u kids are not truthful when displaying your age. Ummmm that's bad mm'kay! Kids under 17. Sorry you have to get your parents permission to become involved in the debate, mm'kay!

As I run my campaign in the Flint mayoral race. You know the old folks are not going to want you young citizens of the City of Flint to have jobs in the medical marijuana field. So, watch out for negative comments about me. They will spread lies to get you to not vote 4 medical marijuana jobs. Don't be fooled by them. You can always come here and find out the truth!

Note! I am not related to Genesee County Ronald Higgerson, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney.

I am not the Ronald Higgerson from CA. Who ran a phony car scam.

I am the Ronald Higgerson who is in the movie Nebraska Supersonic. http://www.nebraskasupersonic.com/

I am Running for mayor of Flint, MI. Check out my blog. There is going to be a new Mayor in town. We are getting back to work! http://ronaldhiggerson.blogspot.com/

As your Mayor of the City of Flint. I want to make it very clear so that there are no misunderstandings on what I propose to do.

As your Mayor of the City of Flint we will start a pilot program. We will take one of the many buildings located here in the City of Flint and we will create the City of Flint municipal grow garden.

We will recruit 30 citizens of the City of Flint.

  • 10 female, between the ages of 18-21, 7 that have kids and 3 that are single.

  • 10 males, between the ages 18-21, 6 who have kids 4 that are single.

  • 5 males and 5 females who are over 21 and are registered caregivers.

We put these citizens of the City of Flint to work and see what they produce. The City of Flint will supply a building, materials and security. As the industry grows and we see what laws in the statehouse we citizens of the City of Flint can get changed or created that will dictate our growth. This is legal under state law. As the law is right now the City of Flint will only provide support and security.

We will work together to create the Flint Cannabis Research Center. We will take our petitions to the state house and to the federal government demanding our right to regulate and research. Localized open honest research does not need major regulatory direction by the state or federal government.

The citizens will control the means of production and supply to legal medical caregivers also when possible, legal private businesses.

As your Mayor of the City of Flint I would advocate this type of model.

  • Mott Community College, Teaching all aspects of basic cannabis horticulture, production and distribution industry.

  • Baker College, all business aspects of cannabis industry.

  • University of Michigan/University of Michigan-Flint, all aspects of cannabis research industry.

  • Michigan State University, advanced cannabis horticultural research.

Citizens of the City of Flint, all production distribution and regulation. Regulation will be based on the knowledge we gain from research.

We have to create a system that benefits society without killing the user with taxes.

We have to create a business that is fair to private business and the workers involved.

We have to create revenue that benefits our community, support Michigan Medical Marijuana!

My platform also includes much smaller and fiscally conservative government, with a goal of securing revenue to increase public safety and cleaning of our land, and rebuilding our infrastructure. More on that later. I will talk about the City of Flint/Genesee merger. Not a good idea at this time. The water pipeline very good idea. We as a region should receive our own water supply.

  • My platform will create jobs. We should hopefully be able to rebuild parts of our city without closing any neighborhood. But we should advocate smaller and let the people decide.

Write-in RONALD HIGGERSON on August 4th 2009 for Mayor of the City of Flint!

Note: please when making a comment, positive or negative. please do not put anything that flashes. I will delete it. Other candidates are, Dayne Walling and Brenda Clack

    SALUTE!~

I support your ideas on making the right decisions so help make the weed legal. Oakland, Ca has put out the tax on it to get is started and their main support is "Liberal Control" Thats the problem you have when working with Flint. Can a person think for themselves outside of the box, outside the norm, and establishing a new and independent thought process. This is the foundation for new thinking for Flint. Becoming an individual is hard enough without basing your way of thinking to past situations (Petty crime, underpay, overwork, GM, bullies, fake follwings) You would have to start a new, if you can do this and show each individual that they can achieve individually by applying themselves for themselves individually, then marijuana legalization is possible in Flint. Entrepreneurs, mom and pop shops are well supported in areas where these ideas are formed because of individual thinking and understanding what independence, respect for business, and of course correct suply and demand.
Good luck Mayor. Hope you get it cracking and can make history for trying, achieving, and succeeding.

First off, I would like to say that I fully support your initiative to make Flint a center for medical marijuana research and distribution, and I know of many others who do as well. However, I strongly feel that you should also include hemp in your platform as well.
Canada made industrial hemp legal over 10 years ago and in that time the industry has seen steady growth, and around 90% of what they produce is imported right here to the U.S.. The last numbers that I saw put a value on the Canadian hemp industry at around $400 million. The question then is why should we continue to send our money to another country for products that we can produce right here, right now? The benefits and uses of hemp are myriad, as well as the potential for creating industry and jobs in Flint. There is a lot of information out there on hemp, some accurate, some fanciful, but the bottom line is that it is a viable industry that could help make our once great city of Flint great again.
The time to be progressive is now. Lord knows that we cannot look to and plead with GM to come back and save us. Nor can we continue to play the same old political game. We need leaders who are willing to think differently, who are willing to go out on a limb and take chances, and who are unafraid of shaking up the status quo. I hope that you are such a leader, and I hope as well that you take the time to educate yourself about hemp and the possibilities it can afford us. Let's put Flint and Michigan back on the map!

I would have liked them to be a tad more serious. But, oh well? I am only advocating jobs in the medical research field. You would think people would want to explore the idea? (sean wayne) I will try and contact you....soon

I've said before that what Flint doesn't need is a guy like Dayne Walling, another whitebread politician with his own career-advancement as his only agenda. Flint needs INNOVATION and YOUR ideas are innovative to say the least!

You have a possible working plan, Ronald, but beware the media spin: they'll make you look like a goof and trivialize your ideas. This was already apparent in the MLive report I read this morning.

Not a hard time. My parents are in their early 70's. Mother is for a medical cannabis industry. Father against a medical cannabis industry. Read along on my blog, on this page web bandsite.... ronaldhiggerson.blogspot. com

growing, transporting, security, research. There would be plenty of jobs of all pay scales and educational background.
This would all be up to you, the people to decide. How big do you want tit to be?

ok i understand what you advocate now. thanks for clearing it up, but some things still trouble me about what you have planned. granted you sound like you have a good plan for developing this program, dont you think you are going to have a hard time getting the elderly to support such a plan? just something to think about because you do have to get elected before you can put the plan to work. think about broadening your campaign scope to include the majority of people who will actually vote in your election and possibly include something about your political background. Everyone has a good plan, but thats not enough to get elected. Secondly, you are advocating medical research which is good, but how many jobs can that produce? and what kind of education are you requiring for the positions?

people will fix our City of Flint. I never said medical cannabis was going to fix the City of Flint. We do not intend to turn the City of Flint into a commune. There is a very big difference between what we advocate and what we are facing with General Motors. We are only advocating medical cannabis as a new base industry. Medical research is the path we should take! If you are partaking in cannabis without a doctors recommendation? Maybe you should lay off a bit, you might understand more clearly? Yes, I have more to say about how we will operate City Hall. More on that later.

I guess I dont really understand how letting 30 people grow pot in a building downtown is gonna fix flint. Is there a application process? or will just any 30 people do? I know 30 people that already do that in my neighbrhood and people are still unemployed... Do you have any other policies besides becoming a commune and growing marijuana? Your plan really is no different than the problems we have and are facing with general motors. You are focusing on only developing one industry. So, therefore after it "burns out" we will be in the same place if we do not diversify our industries. Granted alot of people in flint smoke (myself included) i fail to understand how your plan will "fix" flint as you claim
