Bio
Ron Perovich is an American composer, multi-instrumentalist and independent recording artist currently living near Dallas, Texas. His musical style is often a fusion of traditional sounds from the middle east, Europe and India along with occasional western pop, rock and electronica. In 2007 he began creating music for the American belly dance community and much of his recent recordings have reflected this concentration Although he frequently guests with other performers for live performances or as a session artist he does not actively tour in support of his own albums due to all instruments usually being played by himself on the recordings. -
Members
Except for the singing all of the "members" are me. I play all instruments in the songs on this page but any vocals will be either by Chad Barker, Kelela Place or very rarely, myself. I can't sing very well so I'm extremely grateful for the help Chad and Kel have been. Big thanks to: Jon Gibbons, for getting me and Chad back into recording again. Andy Miller, for keeping me playing music when I'd almost forgotten which end the cord goes into. Kelela Place, for inspiring, encouraging and indulging me in this sometimes time-demanding hobby. Brandy Bolin and Tribal Evolution, for the chance to explore this new road and the opportunities to still be "live" once in a while! -
Influences
Classical and traditional music from Europe, Asia, the middle east, America and many hidden corners in between. -
Sounds Like
Irfan, Arax, Djinn, Petrol Bomb Samosa, Raquy and the Cavemen, House of Tarab, Hossam Ramzy, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Anoushka Shankar, Oni Wytars, Helm, B-Tribe, Enigma, middle eastern, balkan, flamenco, belly dance music. Whatever I feel like at the time. I tend to take a very mechanical/structural approach to writing so I like to explore different styles and techniques sometimes just for the challenge of writing in an unusual style/meter/mode/key. So perhaps the best answer would be "World Fusion" even though I'm about as suburban boring white bread as they come.
