Ron Prince

Mr. Prince started to play guitar when he was 12. At 14, he helped form the band The Brighter Side of Darkness. Due to family relocation and school, he did not return to Chicago until the age of 20. Upon his return, he started gigging with Johnny Dollar and The Scandalous Band, Bobby Rush and Syl Johnson. At the same time, he was in a band called Mona Lisa. They were opening for greats like the legendary Howlin' Wolf. Mona Lisa was soon to be at the forefront of the black Rock/Blues movement. In 1978, Mr. Prince teamed up with Donald Kinsey. Kinsey had just finished 2 albums with Reggae King Bob Marley. Along with Kinsey, Joe Thomas (Ron's present day bassist) and Ralph Kinsey, they recorded an LP The Chosen Ones. Soon the band relocated to California for 3 years. During this time, Mr. Prince did a stint with Bobby Ingram. Mr. Prince returned to Chicago. He was hired by The Kinsey Report. They recorded 4 albums in his 11 years with the band. Before starting his own band, Mr. Prince held down the guitar seat in the legendary James Cotton Band for 2 years. Mr. Prince has been blessed as a lead guitarist. As a veteran musician, he now takes his gift to the center stage. His hunger and energy will intimidate those half his age. Mr. Prince embodies over 3 generations of The Blues. Currently as front man in Ron Prince's Band, he demonstrates an intense passion through his guitar and in vocals.
