Ron Silva possesses one of the finest and truly soulful voices on the West Coast. He first found fame with The Crawdaddys, then with The Nashville Ramblers, and more recently with The Monarchs. His backing group consists of several solid experienced Bay Area musicians who have played with such groups as The Nick Rossi Set, The Loved Ones, The Kinetics, and Beulah. They have an individual, stylish take on the sound which has recently experienced a worldwide resurgence thanks to people like Sharon Jones, Raphael Saadiq, James Hunter, Eli "Paperboy" Reed, and Amy Winehouse. Like many of these contemporaries, The Monarchs go straight to the source for inspiration: piles of dusty 45s on labels as well known as Stax and as obscure as Little Star. The group specializes in hard-driving R&B and early soul music from the late-1950s through the mid-1960s and are, to put it simply, the real deal.
THIS Saturday night...LA's Ska Kings...Hepcat!!!! Ron Silva & The Monarchs perform a 9 PM opening set and DJ Kirk spins the solid sounds all night long to keep the party hummin'. See you there.
