Ron Knight - World Host and voiceover talent from Sirius Radio, Travel Channel, Nickelodeon, ABC Television, animation series, and Universal Studios offers up this Tribute revue to vintage horn bands of the 70's, featuring classic Blue Eyed Soul, and also showcases the band's new CD release:
"Full City Roast" - featuring a variety of WorldBeat crossover influences on R&B.
Ron's background in the music industry includes his being on-air host of Sirius Radio in New York City, as Horizon's World Music host, where guest artists included Colin Hay (Men at Work), Sting, Justin Adams (Robert Plant), Gal Costa, Mariza, and more.
His first recordings for Cliffie Stone's Granite Records (EMI), led to later piano and keyboards for the likes of jazzmen Dave Pike, Leroy Vinnegar, and in his own bands including Pacific Standard Time, and later in the 80's West Coast renowned "Gangster", a horn band seen in clubs and on television throughout Central California and the SF Bay Area.
With career notes as a percussionist featured in the Union Tribune in press articles along with Mickey Hart (Grateful Dead), Ron "returns home" to his roots in a large horn band that features a classic Vintage R&B Horn Band Tribute, and the new CD original material from Jazz/Rock/R&B fusion that borrow from World Music styles and trends.
VMB features key players whose credits include time with Ray Charles, Boz Scaggs, Don Ho, Melissa Manchester, Peter Allen, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Rocky Burnetts, Tony Bennett, Sony & Cher, Jan & Dean, The Little River Band and more. The band is tight and monstrous on its emulations.
