The poignant and beautiful song "On Perfect Wings," created especially for Breanna, but intended to honor anyone who is wheelchair-bound, was written by songwriters Jamie Southworth, Carrie Baird, and Breanna's step-grandmother, Nancy Vogl. "On Perfect Wings" is performed by the talented Jamie Southworth.
Influences
Breanna is influenced by the simplest, and yet some of the most profound joys in life. She loves going to first-grade and being a Brownie Scout. She loves to color and listen to Disney tunes and watch other children play. She loves her baby sister, Peyton! Breanna delights in butterflies and flowers and Cinderella and the color purple. She loves chicken nuggets and mashed potatoes and pizza. And, even though she is in pain a great deal of the time, she smiles...with the heart of an angel. Her "wings" are perfect.
Imagine yourself as a child running, dancing with the wind, perhaps flopping down in a big snow pile, being able to move as freely as your spirit guides you. JUST IMAGINE. For that is exactly how Breanna plays...in her very own “dream land,” playing, running, and dancing in her mind. Now imagine what it is like to have a disabled child in a home that IS NOT handicapped accessible, with the bedrooms and bath up a steep flight of stairs.
Breanna has an affliction few have ever heard of, a severe case of DYSTONIA that leaves the majority of her body rigid and contorted. She has never been able to roll over, sit up, or walk, and holding a toy is nearly impossible. Even her speech is affected.
With mounting medical bills, the financial burdens are great for Breanna’s family...and there are no funds to create the proper environment for this precious child.
