BOO TO A GOOSE!
my eyes already touch
the sunny hill,
goin far ahead of the road
I have begun.
so we are grasped
by what we cannot grasp,
it has its inner light,
even from a distance---
and change us,
even if we do not reach it,
into something else,
which,hardly sensing it,
we already are,
a gesture waves us on,
answering our own wave---
but what we feel is the wind
in our face.
---- rainer maria rilke
one time I wished my self in love.
I was the little squirrel
with dark stripes.
I climbed shaky limbs for fruit for her.
I even swam with the moon on the water
to reach her.
that was a time little troubled me.
I worked all day to gather food
And watched her sleep all night.
It is not the same way now
but my heart still sings when I hear her
over the leaves.
