Influences
Women everywhere who do the hard work of writing, no matter what their life's circumstances.
We continue to be inspired by women writers who honor us with their presence today--at our retreats, on the web, in our world. Women who work at the hard work of writing: Denise Chavez, Ellen McLaughlin, Sandra Cisneros, Kim Addonizio, Kim Ponders, Leslie Marmon Silko, Julia Alvarez, Gail McMeekin, Jennifer Tseng, Joy Harjo, Lorna Dee Cervantes, Rita Dove and many others...including you.
A Room of Her Own Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering
the vision of Virginia Woolf by bridging the often fatal gap between a
woman's economic reality and her artistic vision.
The Foundation was formed in 2000 to provide innovative and practical arts
patronage to women through our generous grant program and unique retreat
experiences.
Our myspace page is a new endeavor undertaken to get the word out to as many
women writers as possible to enter our room, join other women writers, and to
apply for our Gift of Freedom.
Although we are in our gestational stage here on myspace, if you visit our
website (The link is down to the left.) you will see that we are starting to
walk--boldly and with clear direction.

¿o a dónde salir? / ¿para volver a entrar? - ¿dónde queda el outside?
(e) On this issue, photographers, philosophers, plastic artists, designers, musicians and writers, from several cities around the world, investigate and question the dialectic environment-individual.
The inside, the outside, or the inoutside. - What are the new ‘definitions’ that would be needed to articulate codes and communication channels valid in a time where the rivers flow of pure strong noise? - Are communication and freedom values that are canceled each other? - How to avoid entering the game? / Or how to get out? / Or where to go out? / ¿To re-enter? - Where is the outside?
A great poem does things to you. Divine and nearly frightening things, like knotting up something inside you, or making your heart slip into an erratic beat, or catching your breath, or causing tremors, fevers, daydreams, sweats, inexplicable bliss.
Congratulations to the winners of TSP’s Annual Poetry Contest!

Got my grant proposal in the mail today. Thank you so, so much for all of your encouraging messages and helpful tips along the way! It's been an amazing process that has truly helped me to clarify exactly who I am as a writer and where it is that I want to go.
