In early 2005 singer Leigh Cordell previously of The Present, The Maze and Arcane set out to form a band. It was during the early stages of 1999 that he originally met bassist Giff and drummer Deano Bradley. He joined them to complete the line up of the soon to be named Arcane. Arcane was very much enjoyed by its members but unfortunately it didn't go down quite as well with the audience - probably due to confusing mid song shifts of genre and general lack of predictability. This was however an essential part of the process for Leigh, Giff and Deano in terms of musical growth and audience understanding. Not to mention a very much-needed vehicle for them to vent their musical freakiness! Leigh eventually emerged from the ashes of Arcane and plucked up the courage and confidence to give his passion for music another go and create a new band that utilised his collective experience and knowledge about music, performance, entertainment, business and people. Leigh promptly enlisted the spider fingered talents of his friend Bassist Giff, whose ability, feel for music and individuality was always much admired by Leigh from their Arcane days. With the two members of this, then unnamed band, firmly established they advertised for a guitarist. It took one advert in in a music store, one phone call and a session It was obvious to Leigh and Giff that Guitarist Rich had something unique to bring in to the project, he was recruited and then there were three! Although they had only met a couple of times they had already written the basis of three songs namely Building My Home, Communicate and Burning Desire. The guys were very pleased with the songs and realised they had something special but the lack of a Drummer was very apparent. Leigh and Giffs old band mate and friend Deano was already in another band, so they assumed he was out of reach. However, one day Deano had a rehearsal booked that his other members couldn't attend so he invited the guys to join him for a bit of a jam. The guys turned up and while Deano was setting up they played through the songs they created and Deano was totally blown away. Deano immediately took the three songs to the next level by providing them with exciting and intuitive beats. It certainly helped that Giff and Deano are a very accomplished rhythm section (they've have been playing together since they were kids). After some thought, Deano came onboard and The Rooms were born!!
