-- Grouper --
Grouper is the artist name of Elizabeth (Liz) Harris from Portland, Oregon. She has put out three album, with her latest – Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill – on Type Records. She has also been involved in collaborative releases, contributing a track to Xiu Xiu’s Remixed & Covered and four tracks to a split release with Inca Ore. Liz’s other contemporaries are Belong, Growing, Tim Hecker, Windy & Carl and Atlas Sound. The word ‘grouper’ actually comes from the name of a fish found on warm and tropical seas – Garoupa, in the Russian dialect of the Enchained Forest region of Siberia, and not from the English word group.
-- Jasper TX --
This bill also features Jasper TX, aka Sweden’s Dag Rosenqvist. The former double bass student discovered recording through a borrowed four-track cassette recorder, and Jasper TX (also a small Texan town) was born. His music is mainly-guitar driven but when a layer of drums, voices, organs, toy pianos, field recordings and effects are added it becomes something quite special and unique. His music can be compared to artists such as Fennesz, Sigur Ros, múm and Tape.
-- Danny Saul Destroyer --
Influenced acts such as Sonic Youth, as he is a singer/songwriter, like Richard Thompson. Danny Saul been playing his atmospheric and lyrically dark, songs around Manchester venues since 2005. Renowned for his intricate guitar playing in his solo performances, Danny also performs his songs with different combinations of musicians, making each gig a potentially unique event. Danny will soon release his album 'Harsh, Final', and he also performs with Greg Haines under the moniker Liondialer.
-- Fieldhead --
Leeds’ Fieldhead also play. Under this guise P Elam produces ambient/electronic music that delights in tape hiss, geography, bleak landscapes and decaying analogue loops. He is also a full time member of The Declining Winter and a part-time member of Glissando’s Fleeting Glimpse Ensemble.
-- The Home Current (DJ set) --
The Home Current is the recording name of Danish musician Martin Holm. When not engaged with his Static Caravan act Iris To Hypnos, Martin is currently working on his debut solo album set to be released in early 2010 on new label Second Language. Further, Iris To Hypnos and Fieldhead have a split EP out on Static Caravan this autumn. Following a mini-tour with Fieldhead in Copenhagen and Malmø, The Home Current will give a vinyl only ambient DJ set.
-- Simon Scott CANCELLED --
His debut album Navigare newly released on Erik Skodvin’s (aka Deaf Center / Svarte Greiner) Miasmah label, Simon Scott is set to be a household name in conceptual music. Simon is the former Slowdive drummer who puts out international experimental music on his UK label Kesh Recordings. He also performs with The Sight Below.
