The RooT CauSe started out in 2005 when three guys who work together met. They found out they were musicians and talked about getting together and jamming. Now almost 3 years later they have formed a small acoustic act and have already laid down three songs at Chicago Recording Company. The goal was to complete a full length cd and have fun in the process.
Singer songwriter Rick Drehobl, who plays guitar has a folk/bluegrass background and is an intrical part of this emotionally driven group. He brings an open emotional feel to the bands growing songlist.

Singer songwriter, Maximus Riske fronts the band with his energetic/emoting style and powerful vocals. He was part of the local Chicago band SISTER Child from 1998 - 2002. Since then, Max has worked on numerous projects but currently is the frontman for the local Chicago heavy rock band called "Khaos Theory".
Singer songwriter, and producer Rick Flores is the other guitarist of the group who adds the color and the raw edge which also plays an intricate part to the production and arrangements. Rick has a background that goes back to working in early hip hop with the molemen and the BMX dance DJing in the Chicago music scene many years ago. Also has had longtime experience in the recording studio consisting with the production and arrangments of long list of home grown artists from Chicago. Rick is an all around talent, capable of playing pretty much any instrument you put in front of him...and well might we add. Rick was the drummer and also one of the primary songwriters with SISTER Child.
Drums/Vocals Brian Mickey
Having his first professional gig at the age of 16, for more than two decades Brian has performed or recorded with a long list of artists including legendary bassist Jerry Jemmott (BB King, Gregg Allman), Bob Dylan session player James Intveld, alt-roots duo Betty Dylan, LUCE, Kevon Smith (Buddy Miles Band), Paris Delane (Sonia Dada) and the late Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. He was also a charter member of Sister Child along with Stewart and Rick F.: “yes, all roads go back to Sister Child…” In addition to his current work with RooT CauSe, you may also see him around town performing with his other band Finneus.
Bassist/Vocals Lawrence Horvath
Coming from transilvainia, Big Low can only play night shows as his craving for music will not let him perform during daylight hours for some strange reason. Low has played with such bands like Pipedream, Mary Pop'n Rockit and Sister Child. Big Low lays it down fat and brings it home thick!
With all that being said, this group is a collaboration of different styles that work well together and have obtained a strong chemistry. They bring an incredible presence with them on stage and are slowly becoming the talk around the Chicago acoustic music scene.
