Roots From Hell, initially Bastards, was formed in the spring of 2009 by Roar Christoffersen (guitars, vocals) and Morten Jensen (bass, backing vocals). Soon after we decided to continue with a new band name, we recruited drummer Jesper Heidemann, and Bastards were reincarnated as the band Roots From Hell.
In the beginning:
Originally Bastards was formed in 2005 by Roar, Morten and drummer Martin Rosendahl as a Motörhead cover band. After playing several shows with Motörhead cover songs, we decided to move on and write our own material. In the summer of 2006, three tracks were recorded mainly for personal use of the band and not meant for distribution, but it was very well received by others, and we decided to move on to making a demo.
Roots in the early days of metal:
The point of reference for this band was initially dirty, simple rock’n’roll, but pretty soon it became clear to us that the metal riffs as the ones in “Blinded By Desire” turned out to be the right style for the band. Our main inspiration comes merely from the old classic metal and rock’n’roll bands. We want to use this as a starting point and develop our own style from here. Roots From Hell is meant to be rock’n’roll metal with an attitude, a crunching sound and shouting vocals - although still melodic.
