A chance meeting at the well known Key West Songwriters' Festival in 2008 between Ross Copperman and Heather Morgan brought these two independent singer/songwriters together for the first time. Neither one had ever heard of the other, or previously known of their music. Like many songwriters and artists in Nashville, the two decided to see what they might come up with if they sat down to write a song together once they returned to Nashville.
The chemistry found between them was immediately apparent as that first writing day proved to not only open up the door to a new song, but a new sound between the two emerging talents. The combination of his brilliant musicianship, soulful vocals and passionate lyrics with her pure melodies, acoustic talents and way with words, produced a seamless blend that was unexpected yet undeniable. Instantly, the drive to make an album together was born and the two began writing together and immersing themselves in the music they loved as often as they could. After much contemplation, the two landed on the perfect name for their new duo, Roots & Wings. The idea that one could remain grounded in a strong sense of self, while chasing whatever dreams and goals one desires felt apropos. By staying true to their deep regard for music that moves them, these two artists are creating music they truly believe in and are looking forward to the journey to come.
Good luck at your performance this evening. I wish I was there, but I can't complain too much as I am going on the motorbike round France for a week shortly

Aaaaand, just saw Naomi flip your picture over. That's gotta hurt! But it's extra publicity...and remember how she felt about Kate & Kacey (now on Big Machine)...maybe Heather should've dyed her hair black! Or red, maybe. But the rest of us love you anyway!
I'm watching a rerun (I assume) I taped last night of "Can You Duet"--had a feeling you might do that. Of course, we already know you CAN duet, but it's good to do what you can to spread it around!
The text messages were'a flying when me, Holly, and Lyssa spotted you all on Can You Duet!! Dang it, tho! Try out for the show Can You Stir Hearts With Powerful Lyrics and Voices... THAT you'd win! ;)
