Focused.
Talented. Confident….just a few words to describe Ro Parrish. He has taken the entertainment world by
storm with two turntables, a microphone and the ambition to become a master of
his art. In addition to his
passion for music, his experiences take him to television and the big screen,
making him into one of the industry’s most sought after.
The
eldest of two, Ro was raised in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas. From the moment he first broke his father’s
turntables scratching "The Show/Lodi Dodi" by Slick Rick & Doug
E. Fresh, he has always considered himself a 'DJ'. Even before the time he had the money to purchase
turntables, he would attempt to "scratch" & “mix” on his dual
cassette decks.
“From my childhood years to college, I was always
told by my peers I should be a DJ since I always knew what was hot and had more
music then anyone, however; I never had the money for equipment.”
While pursuing his degree at the University
of North Texas in radio/television and film, Ro’s ideal career to become a
movie director was soon overshadowed by another passion for being in front of
the camera. During his sophomore year, Ro debuted onto the screen on NTTV as sophomore
where he earned the title of Sports Director, while serving as a sports intern
for WFAA Channel 8. He prides himself in capitalizing on this experience and
setting it as the infrastructure of his networking base.
Realizing his talent and potential, WSAV/NBC presented Ro with the
opportunity to work as a sports anchor. This later facilitated further
On-Air/Hosting opportunities, such as working with the Dallas Mavericks, Dallas
Cowboys, Black Entertainment Television and Fox Sports Radio. Currently, you can catch Ro on Fox
Sports Southwest where he hosts “Mavs Insider” and as a special correspondent
for “Cowboy’s Insider” where he takes the fans of America’s team into “Ro’s
Room” every week.
Ro was also an integral part of the Arbitron rated overall number one station in
Dallas-Fort Worth, KKDA/K104. There he ascended from a member of the street
team to earning his own on-air time slot. His creative abilities made him
responsible for an unprecedented annual twenty-week High School Football
program. As screaming fans rant, "Its Ro with K104", Parrish never
loses sight of his purpose and stays focused. A true jack of many trades, he is
positioning himself to be a master of many. He declares himself a teacher of
those who listen, and a learner of those willing to teach.
“In my time working at KKDA/K104, I saved some money
and decided to purchase some equipment. Dj Steve Nice was instrumental in my
development as a mixer”
Since shifting his efforts to full-time nightclub DJ in some of the
hottest venues nationwide, he has provided the evening’s soundtrack names such
as Lebron James, Nelly, Three-6 Mafia, and Ice Cube. Ro has also handled public
and private events for numerous members of the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas
Mavericks. He has performed along
side of and mixed at events with Legendary DJ's Don Cannon, Biz Markie and Kid
Capri. As the Dallas Maverick’s
official DJ, Ro welcomes fans to every home game with the hottest music and
entertainment.
Parrish serves as an entertainer behind the turntables and in front of
the camera, while still making time to mentor young teens and provide them with
wise counsel as an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
His recent move back from the Big Apple has definitely expanded his
observations and heightened his sense of productivity. Print modeling along
with acting has been added, further expanding his talents. Look for Ro in the
Universal Film 'American Gangsters' starring Denzel Washington and Russell
Crowe where he made his acting debut.
As Parrish continues to dispel all myths of the entertainment industry
with tenacity and flawless ambition, it is only a matter of time before we are
taking a seat in the front Ro!
