Since 1982, jazz guitarist/composer Rory Stuart has led New-York based groups. His first Quartet, w/ Keith Copeland on drums, Armen Donelian on piano, and Anthony Cox (or Calvin Hill) on bass, can be heard on a couple of recordings, including "Hurricane" (4 Stars in Downbeat, 1 track included here). In 2008, his current quartet, with Mark Shim on tenor saxophone, Matt Penman on bass, and Ari Hoenig on drums, has a new CD "So Rise Up," just released on SmartCat Music; a couple of excerpts are included on this myspace page.
