This group brings a high level of musicianship, improvisation and creativity to Newman’s inspired narratives - all defined and shaped by the vocal poignancy of Roseanna Vitro, a storyteller of great renown. Stellar violinist Sara Caswell - an emerging talent winning accolades - adds luster and musicality to the group sound. Rounding out the ensemble, guitarist Steve Cardenas, bassist Dean Johnson, drummer Tim Horner, and percussionist Jamey Haddad. NEW Project: "Jazz Stories" featuring Kenny Werner and Roseanna is a warm musical relationship grown over twenty years and six critically acclaimed recordings on Telarc Intl., Concord Records, Challenge.nl and Half Note. Jazz Stories captures modern jazz compositions and great American Standards. Creativity and Storytelling on the highest level is what you can expect from this program. Roseanna has the ability to move audiences. She does so with a musician's mind, born from her years sharing stages and studios with jazz's elite, among them Elvin Jones, Christian McBride, Fathead Newman, Kenny Barron, Gary Bartz, Joanne Brackeen, Kenny Werner and Mark Soskin, George Coleman, Eddie Gomez. Concurrent with Roseanna's recording successes is her acclaim as a master clinician and educator. She has toured extensively as a U.S. Jazz Ambassador (2004 & 2009), performing and leading workshops the world over, recently in South America (Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Paraguay, Brazil, Equador),The Balkans, Bulgaria, Cypress, New Zealand, South Africa, The U.K., Slovenia, Turkey, and the USA.
