What makes Rose Carleo so special is, ironically, the fact that she’s just like everyone else.
Well, apart from the fact that she has a rare ability to take those experiences we’ve all lived through, and turn them into remarkable songs with a universal appeal.
Then she opens her mouth and conveys the pain, the passion and the emotion of her songs in a way that touches everyone who hears them.
Originally from Western Australia, Rose started her music career working with artists such as Norma Kelly and Rick Steele in the vibrant Perth country music scene.
This versatile artist also performed backing vocals for Jimmy Barnes during the release of his “Soul Deep” album in 2000 and her trio “Sweet Revenge” were the support for Vanessa Amorosi’s Perth performance during her 2000 tour.
Now calling Queensland her “home away from home”, Rose hit the studio to record her debut EP Rose Carleo with producer Brendan Radford. The combined talents and writing ability of Rose and Brendan culminated in an outstanding production that had something for all music lovers to enjoy.
Rose’s first single titled Freedom, was released to radio mid 2006 to great applause. The follow-up single was another self-penned track Whisper (45 on the Top 100 Country Hits chart), with accompanying film clip gracing CMC and VirginBlue Inflight screens.
Pop, Rock, Country or Blues you name it, Rose Carleo can perform it. A combination of these styles contributes to the warm, colourful, romantic and distinctive tone that is the voice of Rose Carleo.
Named the Silver Medallion winner at the 2007 Qld Gold Medallion Awards for Best New Talent and a finalist in the prestigious 2007 Toyota Starmaker - Rose has continued her journey upwards.
Mid 2007 saw Rose release her debut album Everything I Need, with producer Brendan Radford again at the helm. The first single taken from the album was Til I Find Me Again (35 on the CMC video chart), co-written with 2007 Golden Guitar winner Drew McAlister.
Drew also makes an appearance on the album with the beautiful duet Sometimes You Just Know (currently 19 Top 30 Country Tracks chart), which scored a 2008 finalist nomination in the Golden Guitar Awards, and named the 2008 TIARA Awards for Vocal Collaboration of the Year for Rose & Drew.
The track Eyes Don’t Lie made No.1 on the Sounds Like Café chart, her single It’s Not Me It’s You (27 Top 100 Country Hits & 42 CMC video charts) and track I’ve Just Got The Blues (Next Generation Country sampler) - Rose is in full bloom.
