The Rose Festival has been consistently ranked as the "Cleanest & Greenest" Festival in America by the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) for eleven years running!
The Rose Festival Partners with SOLV, PGE, City of Portland's Maintenance Bureau, several private sanitation companies, and hundreds of volunteers more than a decade ago to build a groundbreaking parade clean-up model, setting an industry standard.
The Rose Festival annually provides restorative funds to the Portland Parks Department to restore Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park to its natural state.
The Waterfront Village recycles over 7 tons of trash annually.
And now... The Waterfront Village is powered by PGE renewable energy! The bright lights at this year's Rose Festival Waterfront Village will shine especially cleanly thanks to power supplied from new wind farms in Oregon and Washington. Portland General Electric (PGE) will help the Rose Festival meet its commitment to environmental sustainability by buying renewable wind energy for the Waterfront Village –- an estimated total of 106,000-kilowatt hours of power.
