New Album Well Under Way
The newest Rosemary Gates album is well under way. On this outing the band has
decided to record an acoustic based album. "My roots are on the folk side
of the spectrum and I have always wanted to record an acoustic album," stated
Christian Schult, vocalist for the band. "I finally convinced the guys to
come on board with the idea." Adds bassist Bryan "B-Funk" Bankson,
"Although the tunes will primarily be acoustic based, the album will be much
more than just acoustic guitars, drums, and a vocal. I like to think of it more
as an organic sounding album where we use more earthy tones and beats. Make no
mistake; the production on this album will be on par with our prior releases.
The final product will just be a little different sounding than our prior releases.
The band will be reinterpreting old RG standards, adding some never before released
material from the acoustics era in '96-'97, in addition to new originals and perhaps
a cover.
The band is in the studio now finishing scratch tracks for an acoustic version
of Gnosis (Myth & Judgment) and a brand new song entitled "Warm"
as well as percussion tracks for the remaining tunes. Percussion is scheduled
to be completed this month, and instrumentation will begin in October. Vocals
should be completed in November. The band plans to be mixing and mastering the
final product in December.
"As with our last album (2006's Myth & Judgment), we will primarily
be recording the new record at our Fort Wayne, IN, based King James Records,"
said guitarist Michael Archbold. "Building our own studio was the best
thing we could have ever done. It has freed us to be creative in the recording
process. In the past, there was not much room for creativity in the studio because
we had budgetary concerns to deal with. With those costs eliminated, we are
able to run through as many ideas as we want without freaking out about money."
"Although the record will be primarily recorded at King James, we will
be mixing and mastering again with world renowned Sweetwater Studios in Fort
Wayne," said drummer John Tingley. One can never under estimate the importance
of post production on an album. In many ways, it is as important as or more
important than the recording phase. That process is where an album is brought
to life.
The band has confirmed the following tracks will be heard on the new album:
- Burn (originally heard on Shine 2000)
- Gnosis (originally heard on Myth & Judgment 2006)
- Home Again (originally heard on Myth & Judgment 2006)
- Illuminated (previously unreleased)
- My Friends (previously unreleased)
- Tank (previously unreleased)
- Twist (originally heard on Myth & Judgment 2006)
- Warm (Without the Sun) (new original music)
Myth & Judgment Voted Best Local CD Release of
2007....
Rosemary Gates is proud to
announce that Myth & Judgment was voted the best local CD release of 2007
by fans and readers of local entertainment guide, WhatzUp
Magazine.....
We are extremely proud of
this award,” said guitarist Michael Archbold.
“Not only is it nice to be recognized for the hard work and effort we
put into this record, but we are especially proud of it because it represents
local ORIGINAL music. In recent years,
it seems, original music has taken a backseat to party bands and cover
tunes. Those things are fine and we have
been part of that scene in the past as well, but as artists,
the true joy for our band has been in writing and
producing our own music. Bassist Bryan
Bankson adds, “You aren’t anything unless you are laying down your own
grooves! We hold ourselves to the
highest standards of writing and producing music. We really dedicate ourselves fully to that pursuit;
even more so now than in the past.”....
In 2004, the band invested
in its own record company and recording studio; King
James Records & Studio. This
investment has enabled the band to be more creative and eclectic in its musical
pursuits. Vocalist Christian Schult
adds, “With us owning our own studio, expect more frequent releases from the
band.”
Currently, Rosemary Gates
has two projects under way including a new studio album due out late 2008. The band is also working on a video
re-release of Myth & Judgment, which will include a video presentation of
the album, live performance material, and interviews with the band.....
Be sure to pick up a copy of Myth & Judgment at all local Wooden Nickel
