MY PERSONAL INTERESTS (ROSE MERCURY)

I wanted to share with you some of my own personal interests so you can get to know me a little better !
Okay, first, I am a lover. A lover of fine art. In London this summer I haunted the National Gallery in London, and gazed upon Degas' masterpiece, The Combing Of the Hair, and Van Goughs' The Sunflower. My favorite artists are DaVanci, Degas, Waterhouse, Rackman, I could go on forever. Some of my favorite pieces of art are DaVancis' Leda And The Swan, Van Goughs' The Sunflower, and Waterhouses' spellbinding piece, La Belle Dame Sans Merci. Sans merci is French for "without mercy."
I have a great interest in the opera, theatre, and the ballet. The opera is everything music should be, and if you don't find music in opera you will not find true music anywhere. It opens the door to all other genres, but that is just my opinion.
The ballet is so sophisticated, beautiful, graceful. It takes my breath away to watch the ballet, especially Swan Lake. I also adore the music accompanying that ballet. The skill and the strength it takes to be a ballerina is phenomenal. Did you know ballet is the second hardest sport in the world after football? True! Ballerinas are strong people!
I love England, and I have a deep interest in English history, in particular in the Tudors, and Queen Anne Boleyn. This summer I spent a great deal of my time at Hever Castle and felt such a rich, deep connection to Anne Boleyn that I cannot describe it in words. It felt like cellular memory, if that makes sense.
I do believe in reincarnation, I am open to that possibility, certainly!

I love writing music at night, my piano is by my window and sometimes I just open the window, light some incense and candles, and feel myself surrounded by the majesty of music caressing me at night when the moon is at her brightest.
I enjoy taking bubble baths! The more bubbles the better!
I also love shopping. I think every woman does! window shopping can be fun too, I enjoy that sometimes.
If I'm bored I'll go to the zoo and watch the monkeys. They always cheer me up. They're in a crazy little world of their own in there and I adore watching them play although at times I feel like an intruder when they start making love in front of the bystanders.
I also love swans. They are so pure, so beautiful, so peaceful. I adore everything about them and every feeling they inspire within me.
I adore English roses, my favorite would be yellow roses.

QUEEN ANNE BOLEYN
While spending the summer in England, I grew to have great admiration and respect for Queen Anne Boleyn, the mother of Queen Elizabeth the first. Anne Boleyn was sent to France at a very young age to learn sophistication, elegance, and grace. When she returned to England as a young woman, she took the Tudor Court by storm. Noone could compaire to, or compete with the Lady Anne Boleyn. Anne Boleyn lived in Hever Castle with her brother, George, whom she called "her one true constant" and "loyal evergreen".
King Henry the eighth became obsessed with Anne and demanded her to become his mistress. A woman of strong convictions, she refused, and in such a refusal, she risked losing Hever Castle, and possibly her life. Anne Boleyn had watched in disgust as her groupie sister, Mary had willingly become his mistress, destroying Mary's reputation at court and abroad and Anne was not going to be played like the fool Mary was.
Anne Boleyn stated to Henry firmly" Your wife I cannot be. Your mistress I will not be."
At the time, divorces were not legal and everything was dictated by the Roman Catholic Church. Henry swore to Anne that he would divorce his wife, Queen Catherine, by getting the Pope to make an exception. He tried, and to Anne's relief, to no avail.
Six years went by, and Henry decided to break from the Catholic Church and start the Church of England all in order to divorce Catherine and take Anne as his wife.
However, Henry was a greedy and a sadistic man who wanted only what he could not have, and once he had Anne, he neglected her, abused her, and treated her poorly.
Queen Anne Boleyn had a baby, a girl, named Elizabth (who would later go on to rule England for 40 years and the time she ruled would be known as Englands' Golden Age) and Henry was livid, for he had wanted a son.
Anne became pregnant again, this time with a son, but she miscarried. This child was rumored to be George Boleyn's in an attempt to save Anne's life. Anne's life was in jeopardy if she could not produce a male heir. King Henry had threatened to have her killed if she could not produce a male heir to the throne of England.
George Boleyn was the only one who stayed loyal to his Queen in those final days, very protective of his sister, never leaving her side. It was rumored that they were secretly in love.
Anne and George Boleyn, along with several innocent men were brought up on charges of adultery, and found guilty. The most heartbreaking part of this is one of the judges who found them guilty was Anne's own father. Sickeningly, King Henry was married the very next day after Queen Anne Boleyn's execution to Jane Seymour, one of Anne's Ladies In Waiting after Seymour promised to produce for Henry a male heir. The prick Henry actually married the day after he had his own wife executed.
She was beheaded and so was George. The two loved each other immensely, he being her "only constant", and "loyal evergreen".

OFFICIAL ROSE MERCURY BIOGRAPHY
Rose Mercury was born Corinna Fugate on November 21st, 1981 and is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. She has released five independent albums.
Mercury spent the first twelve years of her life in the sunny fields of Virginia, where she was born. It was there that she lived as an only child, with two loving parents and a relatively happy home life. She loved to play outside in the sun, always running to and fro playing with her dolls and singing songs. She was a happy child. When Mercury was ten years old, she went to England and France with her parents, and Mercury fell in love with England. She visited the Tower Of London where Queen Anne Boleyn was executed. She saw Bath, she saw the Eiffel Tower While there she also saw the Luve museum, and lit a candle at Notre Dame. Mercury was exposed to sophisticated art at a very young age, spending hours in the National Gallery in London. It was 1991.
Mercury is the daughter of trumpeter Michael Fugate, who died in a car accident when she was twelve. Between the ages of twelve and sixteen, Mercury had moved a total of 7 times, which left her feeling uprooted, misunderstood, and isolated. After her father died, her own mother could not look at her for two years without crying, because Mercury reminded her so much of her father. This took a toll on Mercury, and the role of mother and daughter seemed to have reversed, with Mercury trying to comfort her mother, while at the same time, in a sense, trying to be her own mother. At the age of 13, feeling out of control of her life, Mercury tried to control the one thing in her life she felt she could: food.
For six months, Mercury was anorexic, and extremely fragile. Mercury would go days without eating, and have frequent blackouts, and was found on the floor of her bedroom one night in December of 1994 by her mother. After 5 months of being an anorexic, Mercury's hair began to fall out, and her health began failing. It was then that she was watching the telle and a story about a singer named Karen Carpenter came on. The news story said she was found dead on her closet floor from self starvation. That news story was a wake up call for Mercury. She did not want to be the next Karen Carpenter. At the tender age of 13, Mercury rose from the ashes of this life altering illness, anorexia, and slowly began getting better, and healthier, and she did it on her own. She later went on to write about this experience in her song, A Blood Red Bracelet.
When Mercury turned 14, she began figure skating at the local Ice Chateau in Florida where she was living at the time, taking lessons from a trainer who had competed in the Olympics. Mercury found solace there, skating on the ice, and won several local competitions, winning several gold medals. She chose not to go on with this path however, but, for a time in her life, figure skating offered Mercury great relief and inner peace.
In April 1995, Mercury took her first trip to Holland. Her destination was the Anne Frank Huis (Anne Frank House). She toured where Anne Frank and her family hid from the Nazis for 4 long years, and felt a deep bond with Anne while she was there, standing in Anne's old bedroom. Mercury decided to use her life to try to help end prejudice then, as much as she could. Mercury found herself returning to the Anne Frank House more than 4 times while in Holland, as if being drawn there as if by some supernatural force.
At age fifteen, Mercury was uprooted yet again when her mother decided to move to California. Living in California now, she enrolled in a local high school, but struggled in her personal life. Mercury had been diagnosed with clinical depression at this time, and began trying to numb her pain with alcohol. She had never coped with the death of her father and the alcohol seemed to make everything go numb for her. However, at age 15 Mercury was a full fledged alcoholic, and she ran away from home for three months.
Relocating to Kansas at age 16, Mercury's interests spread to early music (Baroque and Renaissance) as well as opera, classical, and rock. Mercury also began to develop a love of ballet. However, Mercury's great love affair was with the piano, and it began then. Mercury is a self taught pianist, and began writing songs on her piano, her first song being about the sky and fairies. This is a song no one has heard, and it has never been released. It was entitled "Fairy Wings Of Stars And Sky".
When Mercury was 17 she spent the autumn in Italy, breathing and living their culture, and art. She saw Michelangelo's david, the Sistine Chapel, and strolled the cobblestone streets of the town of Verona, the town where the real Romeo and Juliet lived. She toured Juliet's balcony. The play Shakesphere wrote, Mercury learned, was based on a poem written by an Italian man, who was writing about a true event. That autumn, Mercury also spent some time in Switzerland, surrounded by the peace of Lake Geneva. It was 1998, and music was blooming inside her.When Mercury returned home from seeing Italy and Switzerland, she began writing more original songs, and decided to perform them publically.
When Mercury began performing publicly, she experienced something unexpected. Stage fright. One night before a show she found herself scratching and clawing at her leg, and left the area without a word. Mercury then began the act of "cutting".
Mercury became a self injurer due to her stage fright, and she would secretly lock herself in bathroom stalls before her concerts, cut herself, bandage herself, then go on with the show. She has stated the pain gave her something to focus on other than her fear.
However, things could not continue in this direction, and Mercury knew it. After a few months of secretly being a "cutter" she sought help from a doctor, and began a slow recovery, and eventually overcame self injury once and for all. It was a long, hard fight, but she won it. According to The Olathe News, she had been approached by record labels, but declined, wanting to "keep artistic control." Mercury independently released her first album, album, Chasing The Ghost in 2002, which gained her much notice in the local Kansas City music scene and papers. Mercury became an instant local celebrity in Kansas City at a very young age.
Chasing the Ghost confronts a number of issues that Mercury was dealing with in her own life, most notably recovering from alcohol dependency.
The Pitch Weekly wrote, "Corinna has paid her dues in life and very well may be the jewel in Kansas City's crown. She is not someone who was inspired to become a singer and a writer the first time she saw a Jewel video. Fugate deals with pain in this album, giving it weight."Fugate had not yet changed her name to Rose Mercury at this time, so the music press wrote about her and reviewed her under her name at that time, Corinna Fugate.
At age 19, Mercury began performing publicly. She started to gain a following of her own, and began immersing herself in writing. In 2002, Mercury performed at The Bitter End in New York, and the concert series "Live In Central Park". Danny Alexander from The Kansas City Star attended a concert and wrote "Like Tori Amos, Corinna fights her demons through song."
In 2006, Mercury moved to Tennessee, and continued writing music, and performing at live concerts. However, Mercury had a stalker at that time, and her life had been threatened numerous times, and it was serious. The police were involved, and things finally settled down, but the event frightened Mercury from playing live for the next year and a half, because she was afraid this person would come to the show and fulfill his promise to kill her.
It was then that Mercury launched a Myspace page, from her home in Tennessee. She uploaded her music, and the response was fast, unexpected, and powerful. Within one year of Mercury's page being up, she had over one million page views, and twice as many song plays. Her fans were loyal to her, treating her with respect and kindness. Mercury began a self injury hope page on Myspace to help "cutters" learn how to seek help, and an Anne Frank page, to help fight prejudice. Mercury's page was where all the action was, and everyone knew it.
In 2006 Mercury released her album Undertow to some serious notice for an indie release. The album's most noticeable single, Cold, focuses on the act of cutting, and Mercury released a video for the song, and a video blog entry discussing her recovery and how to seek help.
In her personal life, she struggled with depression, and overcoming it, finding daily activities to help lift her mood. She found writing her music helped immensely. Recording her music helped even more.
Mercury returned to recording in September, 2006. She began the full-time recording of Snow White, which was released in 2007.
In April of 2008, Corinna Fugate, who had not yet changed her name to Rose Mercury disappeared and deleted her Myspace page and her Youtube page. No one knew where Mercury had gone, and no one could understand why she would delete a Myspace page with over one million views and twice as many song plays. It was a mystery. Her fans kept pages up while she was away in her honor and passionately kept her music alive while she was away. Where did she go? Why? The answer was simple. She had to go to England, and she had to take time to rest, and to take time to be reborn as Rose Mercury in order to take control of her life.
Mercury took the time to rest and spent the summer in England composing on songs for her new album, and soaking up rich English history, with a deep interest in Queen Anne Boleyn new album. When she returned to the United States, she posted a video blog about her time away from the internet and music industry, and shared her experiences over the summer which was spent at Hever Castle , the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, whom she stated she had felt a deep connection with.
In December of 2008, Mercury decided she had had enough of living in Tennessee, and packed up her belongings, which included her porcelain dolls, and her piano, and rented a UHaul, and she drove it across the country, staying in hotels along the way. She settled in a nice little house (location will NOT be disclosed) and began settling into her new life there. She wished to resume her music, and now that she had more freedom, she was able to do so.
In 2009 Corinna Fugate legally changed her name from Corinna Fugate to Rose Mercury explaining why in a video blog she released on Youtube in January of 2009. Mercury stated that she had experienced a rebirth over the summer, and changing her name to Rose Mercury was a part of her rebirth as a spirit and as an artist. Mercury also stated in her video blog that she felt warmth in her veins for the first time,warmth like mercury, and no longer felt "cold inside"; a reference to the first single she released from her independent album, Undertow, entitled Cold. Mercury also stated that the god Mercury was a messenger, and that she hoped to be a messenger of music.
In a message she left on her official Myspace page , Mercury explained her decision to change her name in these words:

In January of 2009 Rose Mercury relaunched her Myspace Music page, and released a new music video on January 21st, 2009 for her haunting,and stirring new single which features heavy guitar merging with harpsichord, Heart Like A Grave, in the video Mercury appeared nude in a bathtub filled with apples garnishing much initial shock among fans, then intrigue. The Heart Like A Grave music video was well received and won Mercury a great deal of admiration from the Youtube community. The video is considered to be one of the most tasteful and artistic music videos to be released by an independent artist this year.
February 2009 was a productive month for Mercury. Mercury released two full length music videos and they were posted on Youtube to grand response. Mercury's video for her song Dying For You featured Mercury as Queen Anne Boleyn, singing and acting her story from Boleyns' point of view.
In Mercury's music video, Dying For You, Mercury appears wearing a period piece costume of the 1500's which Mercury designed herself, and sewed using a pair of curtains, taking fans by surprise. It was, until then, a little known fact that Mercury designed and sewed some of her own costumes for her videos. In the video, Mercury's dark black hair set against her fair, porcelain skin had her looking like a queen herself, strong yet fragile; dignified, confidant ,and determined.
The video, mostly shot in the snow drifts of North America, featuring Mercury wearing a queen's crown of pure white gold, her 1500's period piece costume was released, her fans immediately dubbed her the "Snow White of our generation".
In Mercury's groundbreaking music video, Not Nearly My Love (also released in February 2009) Mercury once again took her fans' breath away. Not Nearly My Love received fabulous reviews. The video itself was filmed in only one day. The atmosphere for Mercury's video, Not Nearly My Love was both haunting, dark, intense, and regal. Mercury plans to release at least one more music video before the month of February is finished. She currently has a blog up asking fans to which song she should create the video for. Mercury always has had great respect and love for her fans, whom she considers to be her confidants; her friends.
Mercury is currently at work at her new album, Petals.

A NEW MUSIC VIDEO BY ROSE MERCURY, DYING FOR YOU! The song is about Queen Anne Boleyn, and was written from her perspective. There is a blog up now explaining the hidden meaning of this song.
When I filmed this today I pulled a Scarlett O Hara (from Gone With the Wind) and made my own Queen Anne Boleyn costume using my drapes! You have to give me credit for that!I hope you enjoy this video. I tried to capture some of the love Queen Anne Boleyn felt for her baby daughter, Elizabeth who was left without a mother after Anne was executed (murdered), her rage, her charisma and poise and yes, some of her borderline hysteria (which is more than understandable) the night she was taken to the Tower of London to be executed. They said she was laughing hysterically at that point, but stayed strong til the end.
I also tried very much to capture the love between Anne Boleyn and her brother, George which I know in my heart the history books got wrong. They were constantly together, he being her only comfort when the world turned on her. I believe the son she miscarried who was deformed was his. I believe they were in love and that son was a risky and desperate attepmt to save Anne's life for they knew if Anne could not sire a son with that prick, Henry he would have her executed so he could marry another (rather than go through a messy divorce). I also believe with all my heart that Anne Boleyn and her brother George were in love, and that this is okay. I think they were soul mates, and all each other had in a very cruel and cold world. It was a different time. George Boleyn defended Anne so well at his trial for adultery with her the people there were actually placing bets that he would get off.
Until someone handed him a slip of paper in the courtroom, that is. George, being the strong man of conviction wanted to smear Henry the 8ths' sexual reputation throughout history, and he did so!
George Boleyn was told not to read the paper aloud, and was asked simply, "Did you say this, Sir? A simple yes or no."
George Boleyn replied, "Oh, this?"
They were Boleyns, after all. Boleyns didn't mess around.
George Boleyn chose to seal his fate and die with his sister Anne when he read that paper aloud, rather than to live without his Anne.
He read aloud:"The king is incapable of making love to his wife because he has neither the strength nor the virility."
I must say, three cheers for George for smearing that cunt of a Kings' sexual reputation forever!

I am going to start collecting stamps of Queen Anne Boleyn, Queen Guenivere and Lancelot, and Queen Cleopatra.
Queen Guienevere and Lancelot were so very much in love they could never love another. After they were parted Knight Lancelot joined a monostary and Queen Guenivere became a nun rather than love any other. The love they shared was unequal to any other. They were twin flames.They were and are soul mates. Queen Guinevere was adored by Sir Lancelot, to whom she knighted herself. She esteemed him above all others, and Lancelot was devoted only to her. Sir Lancelot saved Queen Guenivere's life many times. He was indeed her champion. They continued their passionate love affair as long as time would allow and when Queen Guenivere was discovered with him, she was ordered to be burned at the stake. However, her Knight, Lancelot, rescued her. He saved his Queen's life. She was the Queen of his heart and he was the King of her heart.
They escaped, and lived the rest of their lives sadly, for they could not be together, Lancelot becoming a monk, Queen Guinevere becoming a nun. It is said they are together today somewhere in time. Together. Never to be parted again!

This is Corinna Fugate writing this message to you. I have since legally changed my name to Rose Mercury since I was last online.
I needed some time to reflect, and to heal, and take some time for myself. My darlings, I was pushing myself too hard, putting other people before myself. My dears, I had released two full lengths albums in less than one year, I ran my own Myspace Music Page, as well as The Self Injury Hope page, the Suicide Help page, as well as the Anne Frank Page to help put an end to prejudice.
My darlings, I was exhausted, staying up sometimes until six in the morning trying to keep on top of it all, and it was too much.
My body was exhausted, and I was worn out. I needed a break.
There was not one day that went by that I didn't think you my friends here and miss them terribly.
My darlings, please understand that I needed a break not from you, but from the stress, fatigue, and overwhelming feeling that would sweep over me when I'd sign in.
I do hope that my Myspace friends ( I never believed in the word fan) will accept me back with open arms and understanding.
In the time I was offline, I spent the summer in England composing new songs, and at the present I have enough songs to fill 10 full length albums.
While in England I was able to visit Hever Castle in Kent, which took my breath away. Hever Castle was the childhood home of Queen Anne Boleyn. I felt so very at ease at Hever, and ever so much at home there in that castle that I never wanted to leave.
I'll be posting pictures eventually from the trip which means you'll be seeing me with different wigs ( I love wigs, they're fun) and my natural hair, too.
My darlings, when I came back to the states I legally changed my name to Rose Mercury.
I will be recording all future albums under my new legal name, Rose Mercury.

While spending the summer in England, I grew to have great admiration and respect for Queen Anne Boleyn, the mother of Queen Elizabeth the first. Anne Boleyn was sent to France at a very young age to learn sophistication, elegance, and grace. When she returned to England as a young woman, she took the Tudor Court by storm. Noone could compaire to, or compete with the Lady Anne Boleyn. Anne Boleyn lived in Hever Castle with her brother, George, whom she called "her one true constant" and "loyal evergreen".
King Henry the eighth became obsessed with Anne and demanded her to become his mistress. A woman of strong convictions, she refused, and in such a refusal, she risked losing Hever Castle, and possibly her life. Anne Boleyn had watched in disgust as her groupie sister, Mary had willingly become his mistress, destroying Mary's reputation at court and abroad and Anne was not going to be played like the fool Mary was.
Anne Boleyn stated to Henry firmly" Your wife I cannot be. Your mistress I will not be."
At the time, divorces were not legal and everything was dictated by the Roman Catholic Church. Henry swore to Anne that he would divorce his wife, Queen Catherine, by getting the Pope to make an exception. He tried, and to Anne's relief, to no avail.
Six years went by, and Henry decided to break from the Catholic Church and start the Church of England all in order to divorce Catherine and take Anne as his wife.
However, Henry was a greedy and a sadistic man who wanted only what he could not have, and once he had Anne, he neglected her, abused her, and treated her poorly.
Queen Anne Boleyn had a baby, a girl, named Elizabth (who would later go on to rule England for 40 years and the time she ruled would be known as Englands' Golden Age) and Henry was livid, for he had wanted a son.
Anne became pregnant again, this time with a son, but she miscarried. This child was rumored to be George Boleyn's in an attempt to save Anne's life. Anne's life was in jeopardy if she could not produce a male heir. King Henry had threatened to have her killed if she could not produce a male heir to the throne of England.
George Boleyn was the only one who stayed loyal to his Queen in those final days, very protective of his sister, never leaving her side. It was rumored that they were secretly in love.
Anne and George Boleyn, along with several innocent men were brought up on charges of adultery, and found guilty. The most heartbreaking part of this is one of the judges who found them guilty was Anne's own father. Sickeningly, King Henry was married the very next day after Queen Anne Boleyn's execution to Jane Seymour, one of Anne's Ladies In Waiting after Seymour promised to produce for Henry a male heir. The prick Henry actually married the day after he had his own wife executed.
She was beheaded and so was George. The two loved each other immensely, he being her "only constant", and "loyal evergreen".

Rose Mercury was born Corinna Fugate on November 21st, 1981 and is an American singer-songwriter and pianist. She has released five independent albums.
Mercury spent the first twelve years of her life in the sunny fields of Virginia, where she was born. It was there that she lived as an only child, with two loving parents and a relatively happy home life. She loved to play outside in the sun, always running to and fro playing with her dolls and singing songs. She was a happy child. When Mercury was ten years old, she went to England and France with her parents, and Mercury fell in love with England. She visited the Tower Of London where Queen Anne Boleyn was executed. She saw Bath, she saw the Eiffel Tower While there she also saw the Luve museum, and lit a candle at Notre Dame. Mercury was exposed to sophisticated art at a very young age, spending hours in the National Gallery in London. It was 1991.
Mercury is the daughter of trumpeter Michael Fugate, who died in a car accident when she was twelve. Between the ages of twelve and sixteen, Mercury had moved a total of 7 times, which left her feeling uprooted, misunderstood, and isolated. After her father died, her own mother could not look at her for two years without crying, because Mercury reminded her so much of her father. This took a toll on Mercury, and the role of mother and daughter seemed to have reversed, with Mercury trying to comfort her mother, while at the same time, in a sense, trying to be her own mother. At the age of 13, feeling out of control of her life, Mercury tried to control the one thing in her life she felt she could: food.
For six months, Mercury was anorexic, and extremely fragile. Mercury would go days without eating, and have frequent blackouts, and was found on the floor of her bedroom one night in December of 1994 by her mother. After 5 months of being an anorexic, Mercury's hair began to fall out, and her health began failing. It was then that she was watching the telle and a story about a singer named Karen Carpenter came on. The news story said she was found dead on her closet floor from self starvation. That news story was a wake up call for Mercury. She did not want to be the next Karen Carpenter. At the tender age of 13, Mercury rose from the ashes of this life altering illness, anorexia, and slowly began getting better, and healthier, and she did it on her own. She later went on to write about this experience in her song, A Blood Red Bracelet.
When Mercury turned 14, she began figure skating at the local Ice Chateau in Florida where she was living at the time, taking lessons from a trainer who had competed in the Olympics. Mercury found solace there, skating on the ice, and won several local competitions, winning several gold medals. She chose not to go on with this path however, but, for a time in her life, figure skating offered Mercury great relief and inner peace.
In April 1995, Mercury took her first trip to Holland. Her destination was the Anne Frank Huis (Anne Frank House). She toured where Anne Frank and her family hid from the Nazis for 4 long years, and felt a deep bond with Anne while she was there, standing in Anne's old bedroom. Mercury decided to use her life to try to help end prejudice then, as much as she could. Mercury found herself returning to the Anne Frank House more than 4 times while in Holland, as if being drawn there as if by some supernatural force.
At age fifteen, Mercury was uprooted yet again when her mother decided to move to California. Living in California now, she enrolled in a local high school, but struggled in her personal life. Mercury had been diagnosed with clinical depression at this time, and began trying to numb her pain with alcohol. She had never coped with the death of her father and the alcohol seemed to make everything go numb for her. However, at age 15 Mercury was a full fledged alcoholic, and she ran away from home for three months.
Relocating to Kansas at age 16, Mercury's interests spread to early music (Baroque and Renaissance) as well as opera, classical, and rock. Mercury also began to develop a love of ballet. However, Mercury's great love affair was with the piano, and it began then. Mercury is a self taught pianist, and began writing songs on her piano, her first song being about the sky and fairies. This is a song no one has heard, and it has never been released. It was entitled "Fairy Wings Of Stars And Sky".
When Mercury was 17 she spent the autumn in Italy, breathing and living their culture, and art. She saw Michelangelo's david, the Sistine Chapel, and strolled the cobblestone streets of the town of Verona, the town where the real Romeo and Juliet lived. She toured Juliet's balcony. The play Shakesphere wrote, Mercury learned, was based on a poem written by an Italian man, who was writing about a true event. That autumn, Mercury also spent some time in Switzerland, surrounded by the peace of Lake Geneva. It was 1998, and music was blooming inside her.When Mercury returned home from seeing Italy and Switzerland, she began writing more original songs, and decided to perform them publically.
When Mercury began performing publicly, she experienced something unexpected. Stage fright. One night before a show she found herself scratching and clawing at her leg, and left the area without a word. Mercury then began the act of "cutting".
Mercury became a self injurer due to her stage fright, and she would secretly lock herself in bathroom stalls before her concerts, cut herself, bandage herself, then go on with the show. She has stated the pain gave her something to focus on other than her fear.
However, things could not continue in this direction, and Mercury knew it. After a few months of secretly being a "cutter" she sought help from a doctor, and began a slow recovery, and eventually overcame self injury once and for all. It was a long, hard fight, but she won it. According to The Olathe News, she had been approached by record labels, but declined, wanting to "keep artistic control." Mercury independently released her first album, album, Chasing The Ghost in 2002, which gained her much notice in the local Kansas City music scene and papers. Mercury became an instant local celebrity in Kansas City at a very young age.
Chasing the Ghost confronts a number of issues that Mercury was dealing with in her own life, most notably recovering from alcohol dependency.
The Pitch Weekly wrote, "Corinna has paid her dues in life and very well may be the jewel in Kansas City's crown. She is not someone who was inspired to become a singer and a writer the first time she saw a Jewel video. Fugate deals with pain in this album, giving it weight."Fugate had not yet changed her name to Rose Mercury at this time, so the music press wrote about her and reviewed her under her name at that time, Corinna Fugate.
At age 19, Mercury began performing publicly. She started to gain a following of her own, and began immersing herself in writing. In 2002, Mercury performed at The Bitter End in New York, and the concert series "Live In Central Park". Danny Alexander from The Kansas City Star attended a concert and wrote "Like Tori Amos, Corinna fights her demons through song."
In 2006, Mercury moved to Tennessee, and continued writing music, and performing at live concerts. However, Mercury had a stalker at that time, and her life had been threatened numerous times, and it was serious. The police were involved, and things finally settled down, but the event frightened Mercury from playing live for the next year and a half, because she was afraid this person would come to the show and fulfill his promise to kill her.
It was then that Mercury launched a Myspace page, from her home in Tennessee. She uploaded her music, and the response was fast, unexpected, and powerful. Within one year of Mercury's page being up, she had over one million page views, and twice as many song plays. Her fans were loyal to her, treating her with respect and kindness. Mercury began a self injury hope page on Myspace to help "cutters" learn how to seek help, and an Anne Frank page, to help fight prejudice. Mercury's page was where all the action was, and everyone knew it.
In 2006 Mercury released her album Undertow to some serious notice for an indie release. The album's most noticeable single, Cold, focuses on the act of cutting, and Mercury released a video for the song, and a video blog entry discussing her recovery and how to seek help.
In her personal life, she struggled with depression, and overcoming it, finding daily activities to help lift her mood. She found writing her music helped immensely. Recording her music helped even more.
Mercury returned to recording in September, 2006. She began the full-time recording of Snow White, which was released in 2007.
In April of 2008, Corinna Fugate, who had not yet changed her name to Rose Mercury disappeared and deleted her Myspace page and her Youtube page. No one knew where Mercury had gone, and no one could understand why she would delete a Myspace page with over one million views and twice as many song plays. It was a mystery. Her fans kept pages up while she was away in her honor and passionately kept her music alive while she was away. Where did she go? Why? The answer was simple. She had to go to England, and she had to take time to rest, and to take time to be reborn as Rose Mercury in order to take control of her life.
Mercury took the time to rest and spent the summer in England composing on songs for her new album, and soaking up rich English history, with a deep interest in Queen Anne Boleyn new album. When she returned to the United States, she posted a video blog about her time away from the internet and music industry, and shared her experiences over the summer which was spent at Hever Castle , the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, whom she stated she had felt a deep connection with.
In December of 2008, Mercury decided she had had enough of living in Tennessee, and packed up her belongings, which included her porcelain dolls, and her piano, and rented a UHaul, and she drove it across the country, staying in hotels along the way. She settled in a nice little house (location will NOT be disclosed) and began settling into her new life there. She wished to resume her music, and now that she had more freedom, she was able to do so.
In 2009 Corinna Fugate legally changed her name from Corinna Fugate to Rose Mercury explaining why in a video blog she released on Youtube in January of 2009. Mercury stated that she had experienced a rebirth over the summer, and changing her name to Rose Mercury was a part of her rebirth as a spirit and as an artist. Mercury also stated in her video blog that she felt warmth in her veins for the first time,warmth like mercury, and no longer felt "cold inside"; a reference to the first single she released from her independent album, Undertow, entitled Cold. Mercury also stated that the god Mercury was a messenger, and that she hoped to be a messenger of music.
In a message she left on her official Myspace page , Mercury explained her decision to change her name in these words:

In January of 2009 Rose Mercury relaunched her Myspace Music page, and released a new music video on January 21st, 2009 for her haunting,and stirring new single which features heavy guitar merging with harpsichord, Heart Like A Grave, in the video Mercury appeared nude in a bathtub filled with apples garnishing much initial shock among fans, then intrigue. The Heart Like A Grave music video was well received and won Mercury a great deal of admiration from the Youtube community. The video is considered to be one of the most tasteful and artistic music videos to be released by an independent artist this year.
February 2009 was a productive month for Mercury. Mercury released two full length music videos and they were posted on Youtube to grand response. Mercury's video for her song Dying For You featured Mercury as Queen Anne Boleyn, singing and acting her story from Boleyns' point of view.
In Mercury's music video, Dying For You, Mercury appears wearing a period piece costume of the 1500's which Mercury designed herself, and sewed using a pair of curtains, taking fans by surprise. It was, until then, a little known fact that Mercury designed and sewed some of her own costumes for her videos. In the video, Mercury's dark black hair set against her fair, porcelain skin had her looking like a queen herself, strong yet fragile; dignified, confidant ,and determined.
The video, mostly shot in the snow drifts of North America, featuring Mercury wearing a queen's crown of pure white gold, her 1500's period piece costume was released, her fans immediately dubbed her the "Snow White of our generation".
In Mercury's groundbreaking music video, Not Nearly My Love (also released in February 2009) Mercury once again took her fans' breath away. Not Nearly My Love received fabulous reviews. The video itself was filmed in only one day. The atmosphere for Mercury's video, Not Nearly My Love was both haunting, dark, intense, and regal. Mercury plans to release at least one more music video before the month of February is finished. She currently has a blog up asking fans to which song she should create the video for. Mercury always has had great respect and love for her fans, whom she considers to be her confidants; her friends.
Mercury is currently at work at her new album, Petals.

I am going to start collecting stamps of Queen Anne Boleyn, Queen Guenivere and Lancelot, and Queen Cleopatra.
Queen Guienevere and Lancelot were so very much in love they could never love another. After they were parted Knight Lancelot joined a monostary and Queen Guenivere became a nun rather than love any other. The love they shared was unequal to any other. They were twin flames.They were and are soul mates. Queen Guinevere was adored by Sir Lancelot, to whom she knighted herself. She esteemed him above all others, and Lancelot was devoted only to her. Sir Lancelot saved Queen Guenivere's life many times. He was indeed her champion. They continued their passionate love affair as long as time would allow and when Queen Guenivere was discovered with him, she was ordered to be burned at the stake. However, her Knight, Lancelot, rescued her. He saved his Queen's life. She was the Queen of his heart and he was the King of her heart.
They escaped, and lived the rest of their lives sadly, for they could not be together, Lancelot becoming a monk, Queen Guinevere becoming a nun. It is said they are together today somewhere in time. Together. Never to be parted again!

Queen Cleopatra was extremely educated. Queen Cleopatra was reported to have been one of the most alluring women in history. Queen Cleopatra shared a life of extravagance and excess with her soulmate who she never parted from who was very, very protective of her, and esteemed her above all others. She was the Queen of his heart, and he was the King of her heart. Queen Cleopatra was also a brilliant ruler, of Egypt. She was Egypt's last Pharoah, and a brilliant one at that. Queen Cleopatra and Marc Anthony were madly in love with eachother, Anthony giving her lands. When their forces were defeated by Octavian, it was indeed a tragedy. Marc Anthony died in Cleopatras' arms after falling on his sword, he had committed suicide. Moments later, Cleopatra took a poisonous potion and joined the love of her life, Marc Anthony on the other side. The two loved eachother so much, they could not go on without each other. Queen Cleopatra and Marc Anthony were not just lovers, they were twin flames, true soul mates. They were married according to the Egyptian Rite, and Cleopatra never left Marc Anthonys' side. The love they shared was so powerful it shook the world. I know they are together today.

I have missed you all ever so much my dears!
This is Corinna Fugate writing this message to you. I have since legally changed my name to Rose Mercury since I was last online.
I needed some time to reflect, and to heal, and take some time for myself. My darlings, I was pushing myself too hard, putting other people before myself. My dears, I had released two full lengths albums in less than one year, I ran my own Myspace Music Page, as well as The Self Injury Hope page, the Suicide Help page, as well as the Anne Frank Page to help put an end to prejudice.
My darlings, I was exhausted, staying up sometimes until six in the morning trying to keep on top of it all, and it was too much.
My body was exhausted, and I was worn out. I needed a break.
There was not one day that went by that I didn't think you my friends here and miss them terribly.
My darlings, please understand that I needed a break not from you, but from the stress, fatigue, and overwhelming feeling that would sweep over me when I'd sign in.
I do hope that my Myspace friends ( I never believed in the word fan) will accept me back with open arms and understanding.
In the time I was offline, I spent the summer in England composing new songs, and at the present I have enough songs to fill 10 full length albums.
While in England I was able to visit Hever Castle in Kent, which took my breath away. Hever Castle was the childhood home of Queen Anne Boleyn. I felt so very at ease at Hever, and ever so much at home there in that castle that I never wanted to leave.
I'll be posting pictures eventually from the trip which means you'll be seeing me with different wigs ( I love wigs, they're fun) and my natural hair, too.

Swans at the lake at Hever Castle in Kent, England where I spent the entire summer. Hever Castle was the childhood home of Queen Anne Boleyn. The rose gardens at Hever Castle took my breath away. I hope one day you'll all get to visit Hever Castle as it is a truly beautiful experience.
