Artist’s Statement
“All my current floral images are of live plants; not cuttings or arrangements. Generally take outside at Whetstone Park of Roses (Columbus, Ohio) or in private gardens, I couldn’t pull off old blooms or dead leaves even if I wanted. But I prefer to show nature as I find her; beautiful and amazing even with (or perhaps, because of) the cycle of death, decay and rebirth.
“My works celebrate the beauty of creation. While working towards perfection is one way to focus talent and harness energy, it must not blind us to other forms of beauty. Whether flowers, hand-made ceramics, or people, things are beautiful not in spite of imperfections but because of them. They remind us that outward beauty is transitory. Don’t worship beauty- honour the creative energy that inhabits us all.”
Biography
Brian Gryphon has been producing photographic images for over 30 years. His first assignment was for his high school yearbook. He offers commercial photographic services, as well as offering photographic prints on retail and wholesale basis.
He brings some three decades of experience in commercial and retail sales, marketing, management, and systems. He has direct business experience in photography, writing, and commercial art + design; as well as college training in business techniques, programming and applied arts.
His portfolio of images available as limited edition and open edition photographic prints, and photo note cards includes flowers (”florals“) such as iris, lily, hosta, rose, hibiscus, daylily, hemerocallis, lilium, verbena, sunflower, oak leaves, etc.
Born in Toronto, Ontario some time ago, Brian now lives in central Ohio.
