Roshel Amin is the son of Neriye Aminov, one of the 20th. Century grand masters of "SHASHMAKOM", the classical music of Central Asia (Tajikistan & Uzbekistan). He studied the Shashmakom with his father since childhood.
His father instilled in him a respect for this ancient musical art of the East, teaching him its basic structure and melodies components. Thus he learned in the traditional way through oral transmission rather than through formal lessons.
"SHASHMAKOM" has evolved over many centuries. Its repertoire, consisting of 252 melodies and songs, was created by many musicians and poets.
These compositions were handed down from teacher (ustoz) to pupil (shogird) as is the tradition throughout Central and South Asia.
Roshel Amin has inherited his father's repertoire as well as his performance technique on the tanbur, sato and tar (lutes) and his vocal timbre.
He has participated in many festivals and was the winner of many musical competitions in Central Asia and Russia.
He has created the Neriye Aminov Fund, Inc. a non-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and development of the "BUKHARIAN SHASHMAKOM". As the purpose of this Fund is to keep, develop and propagandize among young age of our traditional classical music.
In the first in New-York, Roshel Amin, the continuer of an affair of the father, the son of the great expert and the incomparable executor of all six volumes "Shashmakom", on traditional system of training Ustod-Shogird (teacher - pupil), for all comers of any age, on studying structure and all subtleties of
this art thus classes: singing, playing the tanbur, sato, rubob, chang, doira and in future will be open classes for piano and violen.
The President of the World Congress of Bukharian Jews, Lev Leviev has helped us in many achievements for what we bring them our gratitude.
Due to Mr.Lev Leviev in building Queens Gymnasia of the grammar School on the sixth floor, for this musical school some rooms are allocated.
