mandolin michelle on all things starting with 'm', but especially the mandolin and mandola.
so before i go any further i just have to say:
Being a vegetarian or vegan is an easy and beautiful way that you can make a difference in the world right now. It is free. It doesn't cost you anything. You save lives. You save the planet. You smell better. You taste better. You don't buy into the suffering. Animals will not be caged, tortured and killed for you. You will not die! Your health will be fine and in many cases (like heart disease and some cancers) you will be healthier.
its a win win win win win situation.
Over 527 million sheep, chicken, cows and pigs were killed, caged, exploited or exported in Australia last year. That's one year.
If you are living in Australia and are not a vegetarian or vegan you have played a part in this:
Population of Australia: 20 million
Number of vegetarians (best approximation based on survey 2006): 2million
Number of animals each non-vegetarian is responsible for the death, torture and exploitation of: 30 per year.
If you live to 90: you are responsible for 2700 animals being slaughtered in your lifetime.
(If all these animals lived in your back garden wouldn't you be shocked at the large number of animals you are killing?)
However, these figures are inaccurate. they don't take into account the infant population of Australia that eats less, or people's varied eating habbits, therefore in reality your number is much higher. You could safely assume you are killing approximately 3000 or more animals if you are an average meat eater.
Do you really want to buy into this???
If you want more info, drop me a line.
