  • Music

I really do like all kinds of music, it totally depends on my mood. I am quite partial to folk music - Americana of course, but I also have an innate pull toward Scottish, Irish, and Celtic music: The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, The 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band, Wicked Tinkers, Albannach, Clann An Drumma, The Rogues, etc. I love the sound of bagpipes, drums, and if played well, the uilleann pipe (Jerry O'Sullivan); as well as an acoustic guitar and a fiddle (though not all together!)

This (below) is my LastFM.com music quilt showing you what I've been (or am) listening to lately. My taste is often as mundane as it can be diverse. Some music is like comfort food and I tend to over indulge - don't hold it against me. [[ for some reason the 'quilt' no longer renders properly in MS2.0 - but you get the idea ]]

ALL genres can be tolerated. Some are loved, some are merely appreciated. 80's anything Rocks :) what can I say... I loved M-TV back when M-TV was what it was meant to be and they actually played music!!

  • Movies

I do love love love Sense & Sensibility and Pride & Prejudice! I'm also addicted to documentaries (currently the holocaust) and Netflix is my second best friend!

BUH!! I have the memory of a gnat when it comes to movies! I can watch a great movie today and forget it tomorrow or hate it today and like it tomorrow.

"The advantage of a bad memory is that one enjoys several times the same good things for the first time." — Friedrich Nietzsche

I have my chick flick moods but for the most part I love action, suspense, shoot-em-up stuff. I still adore a great scary horror flick... but those are no fun without someone to hold on to! NELL is a favorite as well as Overboard, Save the Last Dance, and What's Eating Gilbert Grape. I'm not big on what's hip, in, or gets the 4*s to the critics.
  • Television

TV is my companion... on almost all the time. Listened to more than watched.

  • Books

You mean... type on paper... bound... between front and back covers? Hmmm... how 'bout magazines? Time, Electronic House, HOW, HM & Maxim... (their Photoshop work is excellent!)

I actually HAVE started reading again. Chris would be very disappointed in me... I still gravitate to self-help (self discovery) and true stories... but there is some improvement!
I'm *still* reading "Scar Tissue" by Anthony Kiedis

And still reading out of a few different Bukowski books, though not daily as I was when I first started.
  • Heroes

My heroes are 1] my best friend - He's 'saved' me more than a couple times.
    Eroe, Guida, Caro Amico
2] Andrew Vachss - I'd really LOVE t see a movie (lifetime documentary) about this guy. 3]and all EMS [cops, firefighters, medics, etc) & GIs (past, present, and future)

    INSPIRATION

This would be under the INSPIRATION section... but we don't have other sections here...

    See 'em on Dogster

I have no idea why this Dogster 'badge' sometimes shows up properly and other times does not... sory.

How Daylight Works in Alaska

For all those people who think God turns the lights out in Alaska when winter starts, and back on in the summer... take a look!
http://www.daylightmap.com/ (I tried to put a gadget in here - but MS doesn't LET us do that anymore *sigh*)

About the song on my page:

The song on my profile is called "Where Are You Now" by Frank Iarossi. He was once a very near/dear friend of mine during a time when my entire life was in turmoil after my second divorce and after losing my kids, while I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB. He was sort of my oasis at the time -- he didn't really know me before the turmoil so for the short time we were friends in person - I sort of allowed myself to sit back, listen to the and his band (The Long Riders at the time) play music, while I tried to figure out who I was going to reinvent myself into. He even tried to teach me how to play the guitar once... something I have ALWAYS wanted to learn - but I suk and I can't read music. We're still friends from a distance and I still consider him 'near and dear' as someone I once knew - even though I haven't seen him in over fifteen years. This song is off his latest CD, and has become one of my absolute favoritest songs...

Amazing Grace is absolute #1, then National Anthem, "Proud to be an American", and any other bleeding-heart patriotic anthem tie for #2; "Acoustic #3" & "Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls tie for #3, "Where Are You Now" by Frank sits at #4 and it knocked "Just Wait" by Blues Traveler down to #5! I listen to this song sometimes over and over and over and over... usually in my truck and often it makes me cry (not the lyrics - the guitar!) - but I still sing along. I just LOVE an acoustic guitar [it damned near enchants me!]. My absolute fave guitarist is Billy Mac (Billy McLaughlin) [http://www.billymacmusic.com/]... but I know Frank so I guess that's what makes this one win over even Billy!

Frank is in my friends list sittin currently at #20 I think - but for some reason the new 2.0 is only showing my top 8... so go find him, and listen to some of his other stuff on his page. But feel free to come listen to "Where Are You Now" here any time you want to. Or... just buy the CD so you can listen in your own truck! Sometimes I put another song on here - lately Duffy, but I'll always bring this one back. I just added it back today after a long stint w/ Duffy, and just listened to it for the first time in about two weeks... several times! Which is probably why I felt the urge to write this blurb.

Please ADD YOURSELF to my map - lemme know where you B!!

From whence do I hail?

Originally from Michigan (Kent/Ionia Counties) -- I will die an Alaskan. If it wasn't for Fairbanks though - I'd live in Colorado - so if I disappear from here - look for me there! Pre 1988 (pre sports, pre military) I'm Sue Rosenberger. With a last name like this it is *going* to be shortened. "Rosie" is how I'm known now. **Unless** you are grandfathered under the "I knew you before '88" clause or are married to someone who is... please... do not call me Sue! It makes me cringe... If you do, I will have to call you "Mother". Thank you!
[ more about Fairbanks, Alaska ]

I have regular websites of my own and Wordpress blogs or independent blogs that can be read by aggregators and I prefer to use that social software vs. this. So... real stuff is elsewhere and fun stuff is here.

Technology moves quickly and I've been dabbling here and there long enough that my *shtuff* is spread out all over the place...

Where Is Rosie's Shtuff?

  • ***My primary blog is NoFreakinFluff
  • ***I Flickr under two names RRosie and RosieTX1
  • ***My freakin life story and more crap than you could ever want to know about one person can be found on RTX1.com!
  • ***I use rosietx1 on practically every other major IM client using Trillian as my own client
  • ***General photos pre-Flickr and pre-Webshots spanning 2000-2004 can be found at Digicam Central
  • ***Old "me" photos can be found in the DawgHaus :: note I said OLD!! lol
  • ***Between '04 and '06 was the Webshots phase
  • ***Newer "me" photos, many of which are here, can be found on TooTabu, but these are still pre-Flickr

  • Oh - and check out the MoneyDick article by Daniel Morgan on the Science of MySpace... it's pretty damn interesting - if you're at least a little tech-ish, geek-ish, or have a remote interest in real social networking that is. It's "old" now, but still good.

About Me **On MySpace**

See what USED to be here!

I'm not into changing the colors, layout, etc. *every other day... as a matter of fact, I like the simple look I have... but I'm getting bored with the content. So... I suppose I'll change it from time to time and add a link - like the one above - to an image of the old content. Afterall.. I see NO point in doing all this work and adding all the content just to delete it! That's my pack-rat nature I suppose, and my need to keep records!

Tidbits...

Smiley Faces Make me Happy!!
**** I had a great smiley face here from Wish-a-Fried.com. but the new and 'improved' MS2.0 stretched it out o be a HUGE smiley at tall as this module is wide! It looked stupid - so I deleted it =(

Come on! Think About it... you can even hate the smiley if you want to... but if you are in a pissy mood and you have these things around you, it does alleviate the piss & vinegar... you try bitching at something so simple and cute that just sits there smiling back at you... you can! You might break it, or cover it, or even blow it up... but if you don't run away from it, you'll smile back at it or in spits of it... eventually! So.. I need smiley faces around me! ;)

I love my dogs!

My dogs are all rescues -- always have been. I'm not a believer in breeding unless one has a damned good reason (very few of which I've heard so far). Nor am I a big supporter of spending a shitload of money one probably can't afford on a purebred - unless they have a damned good reason (very few of which I've heard so far). Both of my rat-dogs are purebreds... I turned down the papers because they mean nothing to me, while healthy, happy dogs mean everything.

There are PLENTY of animals that need homes who are being euthanized because they're not 'cute enough' for people who aren't cute enough to have them!! Yeah - I suppose you could say I kind of have strong feelings about that. I'm not going to judge you for disagreeing with me - that's what makes meeting people who are different than ourselves all the more interesting - the differences. My dogs all have pages at Dogster.com... < -- LOOK LEFT , follow The Kids' link. The page shows mine (past and present), and mother's dogs (past and present), and I still have three pages to put up! We're (Sarge actually) the host of Fairbanks' Fabulous Fur Machines - a group on Dogster.com. If you're a Cat Lover, then go to Catster.com!

I've never really gone out *looking* for a dog, and I've never had an actual *puppy*.... dogs with special needs usually find me... long before I have ever found myself dogless! We did ut in a request fr another Chihuahua beause Lulu Belle needed a playmate - but i went to a rescue, put my request in, and waited. We met many dogs before we met Jake. Again, he had some serious 'issues', but he otherwise was the perfect match for Lulu.. so he's been with us for two yrs now. The 'kids' are: Sarge 5yo, Jake, 6yo, Lulu Belle (Lupe) 7yo.

The closest I ever got to having a "puppy" was Emit - he was 6mos old when I got him, but he was already 75lbs. I suppose that's what eventually made me warm up to these little Rat-Dogs that I have now... because they're like puppies that never grow up.

If I ever did wake up dogless one day and I could choose any dog I wanted and it would magically appear as one that needed a home, I would actually LOVE a pair of Mastiffs. I'd love a brother/sister team of the biggest, sloberiest, brindle mastiffs out there... and hope to gawd they come with enough money to upgrade my truck to carry them in too! LOL

IQ Test Score

I think smart is SO freakin' sexy! One should not put too much confidence in this IQ test tho - I guarantee you I ain't no genius!

WARNING: Comments with a Born-On date of 3 months or less are relatively stable. All comments older than 2-3 months have a tendency to self destruct... Minus one or two I'm not ready to part with yet ;) And ALL comments tellign me how you make money filling out surveys, or how to make money from home, or how to win any free iShit, and especially ALL comments inviting me to apps --> will be immediately removed! I just don't see any reason for that clutter... I delete ALL comments that aren't REAL comments once they get old or if they stretch out the layout! I do like image comments from my friends and even tho I wish you'd keep them under 450pp wide - I'll keep them for a while =) but after a couple weeks - they're gone! Don't take it personally! :)

Also note:

For the time being I have removed (hidden) comments from my profile. However - in case I add them back in.... If you add comments that disrupt the layout of this page (eg: images that are too wide) I will edit them or delete them... so keep it under 400px wide, ai'ight?! Also - I DO occasionally clean up my comments... geez.. puhleez do not think this an insult or action against YOU if you left a comment... it's just nice to clean up once in a while.

If you don't like it - you can Image Hosted by ImageShack.us my ass! It's MySpace Baby!
