| About Davide Rossi |
Davide Rossi is a classically trained violinist, a string arranger, a music producer and a composer. He studied at the Conservatorio ‘G. Verdi’ di Milano, where he received his diploma in his early twenties.
Rossi is not the usual classical violinist or the usual string arranger. He spent all of his musical life to develop his unique sound, with his unique electric violins.
Some people can now hear his voice live, during a concert with Goldfrapp for example, the British electronic duo, who took Rossi since the beginning of their live career.
And, more and more, people will also be able to hear his voice through some of the most important records about to be released in this 2008, by bands like Coldplay, Royksopp and The Verve.
During his early carrier in Italy, Rossi played with some of the most interesting acts of the Italian underground and, together with his classical studies, he followed the teachings of guitar legend Robert Fripp and German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen.
His passion for experimenting with classical, rock and pop music, pushed him to play, as well as his acoustic violin, a 7 strings electric violin and a 5 strings electric double bass viola.
With these instruments he can cover the range of a whole string orchestra. He is considered to be one of the most avan-garde, experimental and innovative string arranger in the pop - rock music scene of today.
Recently he has been working with Siouxie for her first solo album Mantaray, that was released in late 2007 and which received great reviews worldwide.
But it is in the new Codplay's album, Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends where Rossi's work is showcased in its fullest, both for his electric contribution in tracks like Strawberry Swings, where his double bass viola becomes the rhythmic force of the song, or for his strings arrangements which dominate tracks like Yes or the title track Viva La Vida.
