I play a number of wind instruments (harmonica, sax, flute, pennywhistle) and sing. I write a lot of my own material. Ed Goldfarb produces and arranges my records, plays keys and some guitar. We hire various studio musicians that are mutual friends. I don't currently have steady personnel for my live band but have a network of some of the best musicians in Nashville, Houston, and Northern California that I can quickly assemble.
Saxophone: Paul Desmond, Cannonball Adderley, Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Hank Mobley, John Coltrane, Johnny Griffin, Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davis, Eddie Harris, David Sanborn, King Curtis, Junior Walker, Jan Garbarek, Claus Doldinger, Tom Scott, Kirk Whalum, Eric Alexander, Michael Brecker, Sonny Stitt, and many more.
Harmonica: Stevie Wonder, Kim Wilson, Sonny Terry, Rice Miller, Little Walter Davis, David Burgin, Charlie McCoy, Norton Buffalo, Jean 'Toots' Theilmans and others.
Vocals: I studied voice a bit with Nathaniel Pruit. He was an influence and a very soulful blues and jazz singer. I listen to a lot of vocalists and gave up trying to sound like anyone but myself but... I sure love Kurt Elling, Paul Rodgers, Jon Gibson, Stevie Wonder, Bill Champlin, BB King, Michael Buble, and.... i could go on and on. I like anyone that sings from the heart with soul and good pitch. Fascinated by melisma queens like mariah and christina and of course aretha etc. East Indian singers trip me out.
Welcome to my page. I'm a musician based in the Nashville area. I play wind instruments (saxophone, flute, and harmonica) as well as spending a lot of time at the piano singing and writing songs. Lately the electric guitar has captured my attention and I'm jamming on that as well. My musical interests are stylistically diverse and restless but I've chosen to focus it in the direction of music ministry. I'm available for live and studio performance. I travel internationally quite a bit with healing evangelist Benny Hinn. I have also toured extensively with Denver and the Mile High Orchestra, Donna Summer, Carman, and a host of others.
I make solo appearances in church environments and, less frequently, in clubs or coffehouses.
Someone asked me the other day how long I've been playing. I started playing the saxophone in 1976 and the other instruments I started picking up between 78 and 81.
It's funny but I didn't start singing at all until I became a Christian in 1979. Jesus gave me something to sing about!
Hi Ross, This is Ramiro, Tony Samuels bass player with Stranglers of Bombay. I listened to your music, love it! Sounds great. Welcome to My space. Cheers! Ramiro
Hi Ross, great to connect. I was reading your bio and saw Donna Summer on there and I thought, oh he must know John Billings... sure enough, there he is on your favorites. John and I are good friends. Been working together since the late '90's. I used to play in The Skyline Drive band with him. He's on a lot of my recordings too.
Looking forward to meeting you. Things are pretty hectic right now. Besides some projects I'm trying to finish for folks, just got back from a trip to Cali and I have to go to Arizona because my Mom is going in for cancer surgery. Please keep her in your prayers.
Listening to "Holy Medley"... thank you. Sharing “Hope In Depression” and A Prayer Podcast by Pastor A. T. Davidson, AOG Australia. http://prayerpodcastbethelhouse.blogspot.com/ You’re welcome to visit and listen. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 (NASB): "If ... My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
Therefore, behold, I will allure her and bring her into the wilderness, and I will speak tenderly and to her heart. There I will give her her vineyards and make the Valley of troubling to be for her a door of hope and expectation. And she shall sing there and respond as in the days of her youth and as at the time when she came up out of the land of Egypt. And it shall be in that day, says the Lord, that you will call Me Ishi my Husband...
And I will betroth you to Me forever; yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and justice, in steadfast love, and in mercy. I will even betroth you to Me in stability and in faithfulness, and you shall know recognize, be acquainted with, appreciate, give heed to, and cherish the Lord.
Did you get married?? Thats awesome:) I moved back to South Florida. I had a great job opp here so I had to take it. Let me know if you two ever take a vacation down here. All the best.
But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty any more. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto eternal life. John 4:14
FROM THE FATHER'S HEART My child, are you trying to live with a trickle instead of a stream? Open your mouth wide, and let Me fill you with My living water. How can you splash water on others when you are empty yourself? Sit a while, learn of Me, and drink deeply of My goodness. When you drink from My hand, you will never be thirsty again.
A GRATEFUL RESPONSE One touch from You, Lord, and sweet fountains of joy spring up inside, a well of never-ending goodness and gratitude. With streams of living mercy. You erase my past, re-new the present, and re-create the future. You are the living water, Lord, that quenches my thirsty soul.
SIMPLE TRUTH There is a river of blessing whose never ending waters wash over us daily.
