Rough Trade Shops' RoTa afternoons have been running like clockwork for 7
years now, every saturday 4pm - 8pm and ALWAYS free entry. Originally
started to replace the legendary Rough Trade instore performances, every
week we have 3 or 4 bands and DJs- often a label showcase but sometimes
not. The policy is basically anything that is (or would be) on sale
in the Rough Trade shops, taking in leftfield/alternative genres ranging
from post-rock, electronica and alt-folk to fuzzy rock'n'roll and indie-pop,
with all the stranger stuff in between.
Past bands include Razorlight, Young Knives, Jamie T, Azure Ray, Get Cape
Wear Cape Fly, Hot Chip, Guillemots, Loney Dear, Neil Halstead, Art Brut,
Special Needs, Vincent Vincent, Rumblestrips, Turin Brakes and Les
Incompetents, with showcases by labels and organisations including Warp,
4AD, Young and Lost, Drowned in Sound, Ninja Tune, Bella Union, Silver
Rocket, Saddle Creek, White Heat, Fortuna Pop!, Do Something Pretty,
Scruffy Bird, Track and Field, Truck and Rephlex.
