About me: "I am so honored to be your Corporation Commissioner. I'm grateful to Governor Henry for this opportunity to serve our great state. I'm inspired by Oklahoma's past and hopeful for our future.
Oklahoma has a rich history and has had a major role in our nation's energy industry. While we make up only 1% of the U.S. population, our state provides 12% of the nation's domestic energy.
Now we have the perfect opportunity to lead again, by being at the forefront in producing clean energy. We can capture all that wind that comes sweeping down the plains. And our fields can produce much more efficient crops than corn for the creation of bio fuels. Oklahoma is also a leader with new techniques and technology to capture more precious fossil fuels from existing fields throughout our great state. You can find out more of my thoughts about these topics on our website, www.roth2008.com on the Issues page.
I hope you'll visit our website often, as we update with News, Photos, Videos and more. Sign up to receive our emails and stay updated on our campaign. I hope you will consider signing up to volunteer, and would be honored to have your support, your contribution and your vote.
Let's keep Oklahoma moving forward, growing wisely and leading the way!" ~Jim~
...Jim Roth is Oklahoma's newest Corporation Commissioner. Governor Brad Henry appointed Roth on June 1, 2007 to fill the seat vacated by Denise Bode. Gov. Henry called the 39-year-old Roth an ideal choice to serve on the commission, which regulates oil and gas drilling, utilities and telecommunications in Oklahoma.
"Jim Roth has the intellect, the integrity and the dedication to public service needed to be an outstanding Corporation Commissioner," Governor Brad Henry said. "Not only does he exemplify the highest ethical standards, but he is a consensus-builder who recognizes the importance of bipartisanship and working together. I am confident that Jim's fair-mindedness, honesty and attention to detail will make him an excellent addition to the commission."
Roth was first elected county commissioner in 2002 and was overwhelmingly re-elected with over 63% of the vote in 2006. He was the first county commissioner to be re-elected in Oklahoma County in more than a decade. Prior to his term in office, he served eight years as a chief deputy and attorney to the Oklahoma County Clerk and a previous administration for District One of the county commission. He is a member of the Oklahoma, Kansas and American Bar Associations and is a Past-President of the National Association of Civil County Attorneys. He is also a Certified Mediator.
Who I'd like to meet: All Oklahoman's interested in bringing the "new energy" to this great State of Oklahoma!
