FEATURING LIZ PHAIR, PETE YORN MINNIE DRIVER & GUSTER
“When I heard the concept I thought it was the most genius thing I had heard of. I just thought it was such a wonderful idea to put to music the answers to all these questions. It really does tell you what’s going on with the human body in a way that children can understand. ” – Liz Phair
“All these songs get stuck in my head.” – Pete Yorn
“They really do stick with you.” – Minnie Driver
Burlington, MA – Rounder Records is pleased to announce the release of The Body Rocks on September 21. The album merges modern pop music with biological science featuring lyrics that answer children’s questions about the functions of the human body set to music that is clever, educational and entertaining. The album features performances by alt-rock favorites and parents themselves (with the exception of Yorn) Liz Phair, Pete Yorn, Minnie Driver and Guster. The Body Rocks is the brainchild of Marc “Doc” Dauer – a musician, producer, and physician who has contributed to high-profile soundtracks (Anchorman, American Pie, Shrek 2, and many more) as well as to the music of a wide range of well-regarded artists, including Pete Yorn and Liz Phair. Dauer’s three kids also perform on the album which features eleven songs that explore the body’s systems and senses with refreshing honesty and insight. It is a musical tour through everything from the endocrine and circulatory systems (We’re All Big Fans of Glands” and “The Heart Beats Lub Dub”), specific organs and body parts (“Hair Isn’t Just on our Head,” “Skin is the Biggest Organ”), senses (“Smell is Invisible,” “Sight is One of Our Senses”), and even the body’s basic fuels (“Food Gives Energy to Me and You,” “Oxygen is Our Friend”). It will educate and amuse kids and parents alike!
