Týr są grupą o niepowtarzalnym stylu gry i śpiewu, znaną każdemu szanującemu się miłośnikowi metalu i folku, kwartetem pochodzącym z Wysp Owczych, czyli małego archipelagu na północnym Oceanie Atlantyckim. Ich inspiracje to tradycyjna muzyka farerska, staronordycka mitologia oraz twórczość Black Sabbath, Dream Theater i elementy muzyki klasycznej. Zespół wydał do tej pory 4 albumy: "How Far to Asgaard" z 2002 r., "Eric the Red" z 2003 r., "Ragnarok" z 2006 r. i "Land" z 2008 r. Najnowszy, zatytułowany "By the Light of the Northern Star", będzie miał premierę późną wiosną br.
