Abstinence-only education is a danger to our children. If your teenaged daughter gets pregnant, it is YOUR fault for failing to sufficiently educate her about the realities of sexual activity, and for failing to make sure she knows how to protect herself. That's right, I said it!
I'm a total knowledge junkie, and I believe that there's no such thing as "too much information," especially when it comes to imparting knowledge to our children about how to survive in the REAL world. Y'know the one with too many teen pregnancies, AIDS and other infections, psychotic child molesters, internet predators, sex, drugs, stalkers, religious nuts, con men, thieves, lies and bullshit from every direction. Forewarned is forearmed, and we do ourselves a grave disservice by ignoring what IS in favor of what we'd LIKE to be. DON'T LIE TO KIDS!
I love, but don't get to do enough of, domestic stuff like home improvement and gardening; writing (when/if I have time) and of course reading; posting on message boards (well, I've always done that!); taking pictures (of my family, friends, house and yard) - what I do is undeserving of the term "photography"; for THAT see PrimalX, and as you'll see I rather enjoy getting together with my friends to play "dress up and do a photo shoot!" It takes a talented photographer to make me look that good... and I need lots of good photos before I'm old and gross, so there'll be plenty of shots for the poster boards at my memorial service. ;-)
Music
I must say that in the past few years I've become aware of some rap, hiphop and R&B artists that are worth listening (and dancing!) to. I'm not too thrilled with those artists who glorify criminality, misogyny or homophobia; but I do recognize that there are artists out there who are merely reporting their observations, and although some of us might not want to hear it (because we don't want to believe it's real), the stories must be told. Think "Runaway Love" by Ludacris & MJB - stories that are painful to hear, but altogether TOO fucking common in the streets of America.
Otherwise, I love pretty much anything that was on either AM or FM radio from approximately 1945 through 1995. Especially if it has good lyrics and/or I can sing to it. I love to sing, and did it "professionally" for a little while. I was in Poverty, an original rock band in the late 80s; and through the 90s I sang/acted in pirate reenacting performances with the Brethren of the Coast, back before many of them become Pirates for Hire. That led to learning to love old folk music, and from there the bluegrass that grew out of it. Now I'm pretty much just a singer in my car, the backyard, or whenever I'm within range of karaoke! Though my kid tells me her friends think it's very cool that I did Renaissance Faire, and I should do it again... damn, I think I'm just too old and cranky now to spend 12 hours a day for weekends on end in a goddamned bodice!

Books
I have a voracious appetite for the written word, and have since I started to read, which was EARLY (3 years old)!!! I'll read anything I can get my hands on, and go on tangents... used to read a lot of historical romance, science fiction, horror, and will read anything having to do with history, Constitutional law, religion, mythology, free speech or pornography. And in fact I like to read pornography, too (adult romance novels?); though I haven't had much time for that in the last, oh, 20 years or so. LOL

I'm an old Sicilian broad with a big mouth, and I have no problem speaking my mind or using profanity when "the spirit" moves me. I believe the First Amendment is what makes America great, and I'll fight tooth and nail to see that it is honored. I'm a skeptic, an "out" atheist, an unapologetic purveyor of pornography, a mother and a wife. My activism consists of doing whatever I can, when I can, for those people and organizations who are dedicated to First Amendment issues, be they related to religion or speech. The way I see it, too many people are afraid to speak out, so those of us who DO need to be louder, bolder and more dedicated to setting things right. Y'know, like the fundies!

Hi Rox! Heaven & Earth is on hiatus now as Stuart Smith and Richie Onori have joined forces with bassist Steve Priest to reform "Sweet". For those of you unfamiliar with the band, Sweet originally formed in the early 70s and went on to sell over 40,000,000 albums with 11 International Top Ten Hits such as "Ballroom Blitz", "Little Willy", "Love is Like Oxygen", "Fox on the Run", "Teenage Rampage", "Action", "Blockbuster", "Hellraiser" and many others.
This reincarnation of the band reformed last year, playing their first show in June, and went on to play festivals throughout Canada and the States and had played to over 300,000 people before the year was out. During this tour last year they recorded a live CD available on Amazon entitled "Sweet, Live in America" which has received rave reviews - pick up a copy and please Add Sweet As Your Friend On Myspace!

Hi Rox! Saints Of The Underground's CD, "Love The Sin, Hate The Sinner" is in stores and on now, please help spread the word with your friends and if you haven't already pick up a copy today - for a list of U.S. stores, check out the "Where Can I Get The SOTU CD" blog!!!
Rox, THIS IS IT, I have ONE LAST favor to ask you about this, could I? Since, as you might’ve heard, my picture won at the monthly level & Round 1, I got nominated for the LongHair Hawtie of the Year Finals (!) that ends tomorrow (can you just get it done now?) and... - was hoping for those 6 votes from you ;)
Yeah, you do need to get accepted as a friend of www.MySpace.com/OfficialLongHairHawties before you can vote, but they’re nice girls (the hawtie folks), no harm whatsoever :)
PS. since it would be so cool to win ‘by a landslide’ of like 500+ votes OVER and ABOVE over #2 guy (who will give us run for the money, he’s done that before!) - so, an 'evil' thought - maybe you can tell your friends to vote too? ;) Could you ask around?

You can also sign up for that at www.just4ubootcamp.com. Again thanks for the continued support, call, message, email, or text me for more information.
Wishing a happy birthday to Lindsey Buckingham, who turned 60 on October 3rd!
This week's show is a real treat for both Jim Ladd and Fleetwood Mac fans: we've unearthed a rare 1981 "Innerview" with Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham from the archives!
KMET listeners will remember the Jim Ladd "Innerview" series dating back to the mid-1970s. This show was produced in the KMET studios and syndicated to radio stations around the country. For this particular show, Ladd invited Lindsey Buckingham up to his Laurel Canyon home for an informal talk about Lindsey's decision to leave Fleetwood Mac and pursue a solo career.
This special broadcast is mastered from a limited edition vinyl LP that was only sent out to radio stations - thanks to KMET listener, Laddict and all-around radiohead Long Legged Pony for sending us a copy from her personal collection.
Got some old KMET tapes/shows you'd like to share? Email us mp3 files at info@themightymet.net and we'll put them on the air!
