關於我: The thing I love to do is tell stories and I love the collaborative process of filmmaking so I make movies. Actually, I really like movies too so that's a good reason for making films, but I tend to get most of my ideas and inspiration from books. Something about reading that hits my synapses in a more in depth way than the emotional experience of a film.
One of the luckiest things that happened to me was to go to school in Silicon Valley when this whole internet thing started getting a lot of steam which opened up more opportunities for the 20 somethings in the area. I was in the Computer Science PhD program at Stanford and lots of my friends did technology startups, but I always focused on film and telling stories.
I started working at Pixar in 1994 when it was unknown and then this movie "Toy Story" came out and people sort of noticed. I worked there on a few movies while working on my PhD at Stanford and writing Computer Graphics papers. I left both Stanford and Pixar in 2000, raised a few million dollars, and started an animation studio called Thrave.
I found that I wasn't getting enough time to focus on my own creative work while running a company (Thrave), so I started a record label called "Transition Records" with my friend DJ Kramer and produced dance music/DJed for a few years. I wroted, produced, and directed a feature-length audio drama called "Triangle".
I found that I needed to be around people more because I was getting bored just working on my creative stuff, so I went to work at Dreamworks Animation and then wrote, directed, and produced the live-action feature film "Broken Arrows".
I've found a happy life and am working on writing my next movie now.
I live in San Francisco, with my beautiful and extremely smart wife Denise who I've been with for the last five years. We have two pugs, Benji and Chewbacca, and we have a little baby boy.
