Hailing from Long Island, NY, Royal City Riot is here to redefine your definition of reggae. While keeping true to the roots of the Jamaican music and combining it with influences of American Soul and R&B, Royal City Riot's sound is original yet authentic. Their self-proclaimed "Good-Time Party Music" will have you on your feet dancing in no time.
Royal City Riot has enjoyed support from a loyal fan base, and also shared the stage with such national acts as The Aggrolites, The Slackers, The English Beat, The Toasters, Bad Manners, The Pietasters, King Django, Streetlight Manifesto, Bedouin Soundclash, Big D and the Kids Table, Mustard Plug, and Westbound Train. They have also been a part of the Ska Weekend Festival '07 and '08 in Knoxville, TN and completed two U.S. tours in support of their debut album "Whatever You Please".
Royal City Riot is currently hard at work on their second album 'Coast To Coast', which is slated to hit stores in November of '09 on Megalith Records. So fill your glass up and get your dancing shoes on, The Riot is just getting started.
"Royal City Riot’s new album “Coast to Coast” is destined to launch them into the top ranks of the North American ska scene. Borrowing on sounds from the Aggrolites and Westbound Train, but not sounding cliche, “Coast to Coast” is a beautiful east-coast blend of traditional Jamaican elements." - Roots Rock Rebel, CKUT 90.3FM
