..Royal Jones ..
My dear sister Ann took me to Simon's in Salem to buy the monster mash..i ended up with Mashed Potatoes..the rest is history...The story of my Royal Jones....
Influenced at a very early age by stacks of 45s (singles) sold at cut rate prices in the early 60s.My earliest memories include the phonograph players that played 78 rpm as well as 16s ....I however never used that 16 speed. Alvin & the Chipmunks were the only 78s I recall vividly however. My sister brought me to buy the Monster Mash, it was sold out. Instead I bought Mashed Potato Time by Dee Dee Sharp .What did I know? ...."Not Me" by Rosetta Hightower and the Orlons on Cameo-Parkway, Darlene Love with the Blossoms/CRYSTALS He's A Rebel and He's Sho the Boy I Love on Philles records. Party Lights by Claudine Clark...Jamie by Eddie Holland, The entire Mary Wells Vintage Stock lp, the Supremes Come See About Me, The Sam Cooke medley from the Copa lp...the Shangri-las Give Us Your Blessings , Judy Clay and Billy Vera's Storybook Children , 'Martha (Reeves) and the Vandellas' Greatest Hits and the magnificent classic lp WATCHOUT....I was madly in love with the SOUND of Young America courtesy of MOTOWN and Berry Gordy. Those were the days.... Holland Dozier Holland and Marvin Gaye, Levi Stubbs, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Louvain Demps, Jackie Hicks and Marlene Barrow, Brenda Holloway, Kim Weston, The Supremes, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas and Marvelettes and Liz Lands and Hattie Littles such enjoyment provided me thru you ...thank you
