Jonathan's Recent Collaborations: (Music Video originally released by IMPORT SOUND AND VISION) Currently "Joy Toy" is being remixed by several remixer’s including TWISTED DEE, Klubjumpers, Sweet Team, Joseph Allen, Pete Masitti, Davey Diamonds and Bryan Reyes.
"REASON" and "SACRIFICES" were just released on DJ Bill Bennett's debut album “Big Muscle of the Rhythm”. Larry Flick of SIRIUS stated:” WHAT I LOVE: "Reason" is my favorite track.” " Why did Jonathan Luke dig so deep in his soul to write this dark song called REASON. "When i wrote this song I had gotten a call from my friend ROB RENFRO who did the initial production, in which majority of his elements remain in Bill's version. Rob had originally sent me the beat called "JL11" in a .rsn 3.0 file format. Then called right after sending it to tell me his daughter had ran away from home and she was having subtrance abuse issues. My heart bled for him. So I actually wrote the song from the fathers perspective of " WHAT IF SHE O.D.", but then i shifted it to be about a lover. The recording of the cb radio of the police was actually from a scanner here in that Rob owns. It's real Houston Police Dept. the woman screaming was a different sound bite. Funny how things work I bugged Bill Bennett to no end . I practically had to force feed him to get him to listen to my music. When Bill heard REASON, he emailed me telling me about how it reminded him of when he had gone threw some personal problems himself. (REASON is listed under Jonathan Luke's aka "ROYAL LUSH" on the album) I guess he really liked my stuff since 3 songs I wrote ended up in his album.
SACRIFICES has a funny story. I was between music projects in 2004. I had vocal add posted every where looking for producers here in Houston to work with... some guy randomly send me a beat called "heading down" I actually still have it in my email, it had a dance rock vibe. At that time I had severe acid refux when i wrote and recorded my vocals. (Thanks to the engineering of Pete Masitti you'd never know) It took me 20 minitutes to write and record it. Then I sent him back an mp3 file... Well... he dint like my vocal style and said i wasnt what he was looking for.... However .. I did so I threw a loop to a beat and some pianos and a sub bass line. Writers block hit and i was stuck. After a few months I had SNO "DA COLDEST" tracking some music in my home studio... She hated dance ,especially fast tempo... well... in the end I talked her into it... She did not sit and write one word on paper.. it was a one try recording. Literally she spat out what came to her in about 2 minutes... Once Bill heard it and i agreed to License the track to his album aswell he asked me to get her to do the intro. Then well History is written. Funny how some things are rejected just to reveal bigger and better opertunities.
JONATHAN LUKE's song "Gotta Have It" originally released and recorded on his album "NUMB" in 2004. Has been recorded by Thea Austin (PASUKA) who is best known for her hits "Rhythm is a Dancer" and "Addicted to You." This track has been released on DJ Bill Bennett's debut album as well. What is this song about people want to know? "Well it was HALLOWEEN 2004, I went out to the clubs. I was being silly and smacked a dude on the rear and hit his spike braclet instead. next thing i know blood gushed from my wrist. Thankfully my er doc friend Jeremy was there. He sealed me up and drove home. I was feeling quite uneasy i couldnt sleep so I drank a couple Monster energy drinks to give me an extra kick and i started playing some keys and the lyrics started to flow. I imagined being back at a club reminiscing my old club Kidd days of a diva dance-off and wrote " GOTTA HAVE IT". To adapt it to Bill's album I modified " when i feel it , want to scream it, the MUSIC makes me explode" and switched MUSIC to BIG MUSCLE" funny thing was i fantasized all along that Thea Austin would sing it. Well the universe showed her the track via Bill and she agreed to perform it... and That she did... OFF THA CHAIN!!
What's Next? JONATHAN LUKE is completing the first album and will soon be ready to hit the road live. With the co/production and engineering of Pete Masitti the album “ROYAL LUSH MUSIC” is sure to get you begging for more!
