ROY ASHEN - BIOGRAPHY
"She comes to me when it suits her best - with a pint of truth and a pound of test…" With these words describing the moment of artistic inspiration, Roy Ashen kicked his recording career into gear with the self-produced debut CD "A Little Drop of Something Not Quite Blood." Recorded in his Burbank, California apartment, the self-produced CD was instantly received by fans and critics as the emergence of a new and unique sound.
Ethlie Ann Vare of The Hollywood Reporter called it "David Bowie meets Lenny Kravitz…" and John Easdale (of legendary alternative band Dramarama) & The Album Network wrote "Roy Ashen is a remarkably talented individual...he has the sound and vision to bust out of the pack of independent releases...in other words, this record is totally cool, burning hot and truly fresh!" What people were hearing was an artist with words and music that came from someplace below the surface of everyday life. The songs contained an energy that was at the same moment both sexual and cerebral. The lyrics hit hard but had a sense of poetry and perception that comes from a songwriter that creates from real life experience. In other words - Ashen's voice and guitar playing got you listening, but it was the words and stories within the songs that made an even deeper connection.

When asked about what inspires him to be a musician, Roy said, “Music is ultimately about communicating ideas, emotions and energy. I get excited about fans bringing my songs into their lives and using them as a soundtrack for their experiences.”
