Roy Shiels is a twenty eight year old, multi-instrumentalist and song writer from Rush, north Co. Dublin. His influences range from Pantera to Joni Mitchell, Smashing Pumpkins to Talking Heads, Beach Boys to Tom Waits and Slint to Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
He began his career gigging the Dublin rock circuit in the late 90's with several rock acts. Since then he has gone on to write, record and perform his own solo work and is currently working hard with his band. The line up consists of three amazing, Dublin based musicians... Ritchie O'Donoghue (guitar), Charles Byrne (bass) and Ross O'Connor (drums).
Never one to turn down an opportunity to perform for an audience, Roy can also be found on the Irish singer-songwriter-sessions circuit as a solo acoustic performer and as a three piece act with Róisín Dexter (violin) and Sofiane Maberak (cello). Keep an eye out for his five song debut EP, set for release December 2009.
