Roz Bell returns with his self produced sophomore album, "October" this August! The first single, Heart Attack is burning up Hot AC and Top 40 radio across the country!
Raised in a small farming community an hour north of Toronto, Roz Bell's parents schooled him on country classics. "My parents were obsessed with country music and played it constantly, almost 24 hours a day when I was a kid," Roz says. " I have one older brother and we grew up knowing the lyrics to every country song."
Still, like every good music-loving youngster, he had to find his own music. "As a kid I was into Rick Astley, Huey Lewis, Hall and Oates, '80s pop music and stuff like that,” Roz says. "And once I found hip-hop in '87-'88 I just abandoned everything else." Hip-hop's hold on Roz went deep. He started writing rap songs at age 13 before discovering thoughtful rock in high school, when he got a guitar and started writing pop songs.
Roz incorporated all these influences on his debut album, The First Sunbeams which was released in Sept 2007. The album spawned 2 hit singles in Yesterday Man and Papercut, both cracking the Top 20 on national radio.
Now set to release his sophomore album, October, Roz has streamlined his sound. "This album is definitely more cohesive, song to song, than The FIrst Sunbeams. I think October feels abit more like an album", says Roz. This time around, Roz wrote, produced and performed the album, himself. The album showcases Roz's unique vocal style and songwriting talents. Roz stays true to his pop roots, but leans toward more of a singer/songwriter vibe this time around. October solidifies Roz Bell as a great contemporary songwriter.
