Books
My dear friend Annette Martin, has written a book about her life called “Gift of the White Light”. She’s a great lady and for over 36 years she has used her psychic ability to help thousands of people answer everyday questions concerning heart, career, health, emotional issues, departed loved ones, as well as assisted police agencies and the FBI in solving crimes, convict criminals, and locate missing persons. She is frequently featured on national and international shows. She has also helped more than 40 law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, solve heinous crimes. She has been featured on the Psychic Detective, The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, Court TV, and many other television and radio shows. You will love her book. Check it out!
“Shackles” charts my friend Malaika’s personal recount of living for 34 years with Domestic Abuse. She wrote her book to raise awareness of this silent crime behind closed doors that affects all levels of society. She also wants others to understand the mental state of someone suffering from domestic abuse and hopefully be motivated to break the cycle. She wants to motivate and encourage victims to step out. Click on her book cover to visit her website.
Check out my friend Dr. Bill Bass's great books. He's the world famous forensic anthropologist.
Check out my author friend Yvonne Mason's book. It's a true story of Yvonne's brother, Stan who was born in 1952. This is a remarkable story of one child’s determination to succeed! A must read novel.
My friend Rita Sexton and fellow Holston Home child has just published the true story of her life too. "Let your imagination run away for a moment. Imagine having no one in your life who cares. Imagine being so hungry, you have to steal to eat—and you’re only three years old." This is a great book!
Check out my friend Karla Baker's book. Her book shows the high expectations, anxiety, and ultimate disillusionment that occur when men and women are caught in a web of delusions and their best attempts to achieve "happiness" and fulfillment prove insufficient. With splendid clarity, wit, and compassion, Glimpses of Reality prompts readers to look at themselves and their culture, and to see both with new eyes.
My friend Rhonda Noble has just published a great romance novel. The story line will tug at your heart, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quick romance novel to read.
Click on my fiend Anna Marie's book cover. Her fabulous book is written with thoughtfulness, clarity and immense compassion for both the ghost or entity and those being haunted, "Confessions of a Feng Shui Ghost-Buster" will intrigue, delight and capture you as you journey with Anna Maria Prezio, Feng Shui Consultant and Metaphysician, through her knowledge and experiences with the ghostly realm. Ms. Prezio is a Certified Feng Shui Consultant and Intuitive, and has studied with a multitude of Feng Shui masters and metaphysical gurus. She has devoted herself to helping others achieve optimum positive environmental energies, and has done this through hundreds of Feng Shui audits, readings and consultations on a local, national and international level. She teaches, lectures and writes on Feng Shui and metaphysical subjects.
Check out my friend, Ron’s new novel. It’s a great read and an eye-opener to parental abductions. This is a hot button issue today. The kind politicians strive to get elected on and not as easy to define, as some seem to think. As Jack Danik learned, the hard way, our nation’s ‘system’ of laws and judicial atmosphere contribute heavily to the negative aftermath of these issues. Little consideration, if any, is given to the fact ‘both’ parents are ‘necessary’ to the emotional and physical development of all children. However, manipulating the system through legal semantics with immense financial resource, Paula Danik creates a tragic outcome for their son, Adam.

Hello, my name is Rozetta. My book is a true story that will knock your socks off! I want to spread the word about domestic violence and the horrible aftermath that occurred within my own family. When I began researching my family I did not realize that there was another side to be told. Discovering the truth about why my father killed my mother was just the tip of the iceberg. The horrific cycle of hate and killings in my family span more than a century before I was born. My grandmother was a serial killer during the great depression and was sent to prison twice for mail fraud….no evidence could be found. I know where the bodies are and I am revealing their location in my book. She abused my father and turned him into a killer. He viciously murdered my mother in 1959 when I was 7 years old. I knew that I would someday write a book about my mother’s murder because I never understood why and no one would ever tell me. I missed my mother terribly and cried every night because she was no longer with me. I was placed in different foster homes to be raised by strangers who did not love me, and separated from my siblings, while my wealthy grandfather, whom I did not know, lived in a mansion and had a life of luxury. My mother’s love and spirit gave me the courage to overcome all the obstacles I faced during my lifetime, and there were many. I was determined to be normal and prove that even though I came from a place called Tin Can Holler, there is hope for a better life. Because of one man’s actions I and my siblings lost our mother and were separated from each other. I promised myself that I would someday find out the truth. At the age of 53, after my youngest child turned 21, I knew the time had finally arrived. I quit my job, sold my home in Florida where I had lived for 32 years and left my children and grandchildren to search for information about my family and to discover the truth about my mother’s murder. My mother's spirit was calling me to return to the place of my birth and to Tin Can Holler where it all began in 1959.
If you have dreams listen to your heart and follow them. Life passes by quickly and before you know it…it’s gone. Most people are too busy making a living instead of making a life. The most important thing is who you have in your life and who you share your life with. Coffins aren’t made with pouches and pockets, so you can’t take all that “stuff” with you. I want to be remembered as a loving caring person who was loved by many….not by what I possessed. Always remember that the most important thing on a headstone is not the dates, but the “dash”….that’s your life’s journey. May peace and love always be with you and may you have the courage to follow your dreams.

Volunteering:
Court Appointed Special Advocates.
Are you a mature, responsible adult? Can you talk to people who are having problems? Do you have time to commit? Do you care about children? If your answers are "yes," then you may qualify to be a CASA volunteer.
CASA volunteers come from all walks of life. They have a variety of professional, educational, and ethnic backgrounds. No special background is required. Volunteers are selected on the basis of their objectivity, competence, and commitment. Once accepted, CASA volunteers are trained. It takes about 10 to 15 hours a month to be a CASA volunteer. It's hard work, but very gratifying.
CASA volunteers offer children trust, advocacy, and continuity during complex legal proceedings, but CASA volunteers do not become friends with the child or the other parties involved.
CASA volunteers are ordinary citizens. They work alongside attorneys and social workers as appointed officers of the court. When a CASA volunteer is appointed to a child's case, he or she is responsible for taking the time to find out as much as possible about the child. CASA volunteers search for information by reviewing records, interviewing parents, and talking to teachers, neighbors, and most importantly, the child. The volunteers then appear in court to recommend to the judge what's best for the child's future.
CASA provides trained volunteer advocates who serve as the voice of abused and neglected children in juvenile court.
CASA believes that all children have a right to a home with loving people who care for them. Each year in the United States, thousands of children are abused, neglected or abandoned by their families.
It is up to a judge to decide these children's futures: Should they remain with parents, be placed in foster care or with relatives, or should they be adopted?
In these cases, many children become victims a second time--lost in an overburdened child welfare system. Social agency caseworkers may have over forty cases at one time. Large caseloads make it impossible to give each child's case thorough attention. Often, a child remains in foster care for months or even years.
This is where CASA comes in.
CASA volunteers are Court-Appointed Special Advocates for children. These trained community volunteers are appointed by the judge to speak up for abused and neglected children in court.
The CASA volunteers' small caseload allows them to provide detailed information on a child's case and ensures that the child's best interest is represented in court.
For information on the national CASA organization, contact the National CASA Association. Their web resource, CASANET, provides links to resources such as articles, news updates, and references for CASA and GAL (Guardian ad Litem) programs and volunteers. You can explore current events and look through the libraries, bibliographies, and references on topics such as foster care, juvenile justice, and child abuse and neglect. CASANET also offers moderated chats and forums for networking with fellow CASA workers and experts in the field of child welfare.
