The RPM Puppet Conspiracy is a Radical Puppet Troup that writes, builds and performs original shows dealing with a variety of issues with the goal of turning angst into a riot.
History of RPM Puppet Conspiracy, in brief:
RPM Puppet Conspiracy began in Chicago in the year 1999, presenting small shows done by local puppeteers, including a short show about torture for the International Day for Survivors of Torture, hosted by the Kovler Center and Amnesty International. Under the auspices of Art & Revolution, RPM also helped with massive street spectacles and protests in and around Chicago. Soon thereafter, RPM’s founder, David Bailey joined with Jason Hicks and RPM became and has remained to this day a touring puppet company, making several full length touring puppet shows.
RPM toured with frugal success for several years on end, performing at many festivals and on street corners, in dingy little café’s, established theatres, and in rank dumpsters throughout the east coast and as far west as New Mexico and Colorado, even internationally when David traveled throughout Thailand
building houses and performing silent puppet shows. Additionally, Jason toured Italy & Bulgaria performing with the Cyclown Cycle Circus.
Most recently, David worked for Vermont’s Bread and Puppet Theater as a full time puppeteer for two years, helping with all aspects of the functioning of the theater as well as touring nationally and internationally. Jason also spent the past two summers and toured regionally with Bread and Puppet Theater.
Jason further expanded the scope of RPM by creating the RPM
Puppet Collective with Alisha Strater, a school-based puppet educational project in North Carolina. Working with Alisha in NC and Maine, The Collective has been hired to create shows and teach puppetry skills.
RPM has 2 Bases in the US: The Northeast Kingdom Faction based in Vermont, and the Southeast Mountain Faction in North Carolina.
