Influences
Growing up listening to Classical, Jazz, Rock, & authentic/cultural from all over the World, French, Italian, English/American, Indian, Persian/Farsi, Brazilian, & Greek, & lately Arabic, & African music...I’m a huge fan of foreign but particularly local artists, some famous and some not so popular, just as well, as far as I’m concerned, we’re all students of music/art. My songs has been inspired by great artists , some are in my CD, and by some of the well known ones, such as Roger Waters from Pink Floyd, Allan Holdworth, Thelonius Monk, Jimmy Hendricks, Annie Lennox, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Woody Allen of course the list goes on.., & one of my all time favorite composer, Mr. Ralph Towner, with Paul McCandless, Glen Moore and Mark Walker from OREGON, where you can also visit here in myspace on all my top friends, which are not necessarily in that order.

notes
'OUR MESSAGE' is a creative Collaboration created by 'Ray Vas'
All songs feature Male Vocals, except 'Sky's the Limit', which is a Jazz, Samba Feature for the Instrumentalists.
-----
Briefly, the music styles on this CD explore Bossa nova, Samba, Reggae, Rock, Jazz and Ballad styles of Music.
With a nod to 'Carlos Antonio Jobim', TIME WISE explores the gentle Bossa Nova, South American style with a Male Vocal and suave, latin rhythms.
The Title Track, 'OUR MESSAGE' explores the African Style of World Beat made popular by Paul Simon, with Lady Smith Black Mambazo. The pulsating 6/8 rhythms and thoughtful Lyrics remind us all to be attentive to the World Condition.
Love Story is not to be confused with the Movie from years ago. Guitars and Drums are blazing on this Rock track which points out the importance of Love and Honesty in Relationships.
Ahh, the Reggae world beat on 'LOVE YOUR CHILDREN', will make you smile and dance. Love your Children' says it all...with a world groove.
'Could you Hurry' departs from World beat for a 'Waltz alternating with Two beat' novelty, almost broadway/cabaret style song with 'tight harmony' background singers supporting the Male Vocal.
...and the Ballads are thoughtful, inspirational and reflective. Listen to 'Mr Hoodman', 'I need to Know' and 'When you Fall' to see how the poetic messages and musical accompaniment combine for a dramatic musical experience.
'A point of View' is our Melodic, Poetic and Entertaining point of view on human, national, world, and personal issues.

This has been the best approach to my dreams, trying to write aspects of my life using my favorite music styles. There are many other styles of music that I listen to on a daily basis that I could not portray on one CD. I plan to explore this on future CDs and Concerts......My apologies for my ‘paypal’ account may not be updated with new prices yet, so if you’re interested purchasing my songs, Please go to CD BABY account. You can also purchase any single song for U.S. $0.99 here is how to access.

Hey Ray! Feliz Navidad y Feliz Ano Nuevo! 'Hope you are enjoying a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends. 'Looking to connect with you in 2010.
" Our message" sounds good, especially I love the end with the trumpet-impro. You have a great feeling for latin inspired rythm accompanied by vitality! I like it.
Anytime I hope we have got and take the chance to make music, some tunes together via internet and ftp-server...
A nice Advent season and every time good inspirations! Let's make music. Martin, Rostock, Germany

I lost a friend & a great musician in Aug 2009. Rich Briglia played Clarinet on ‘Time Wise’, ‘When You Fall’ & ‘Love Your Children’ these three songs are the only professional recordings unfortunately, though I’m fortunate to have had his Clarinet on my CD.
I don’t want to glorify Rich especially since he was a musical partner of mine, but he believed that music is a live, and no one should clamp on it like some famous artists do. He knew that one biggest reason for being famous is luck, not superiority, so supporting his musician fellow was so important as if you don’t, he would disqualify you as a musician, so no matter what, even when you missed up, he would gladly forgive & continue his support (I have not seen that quality on any musician so far). He was serious when it came to music, but he never frowned, in fact it was rear finding him without a big contagious smile. He played with pros and amateurs, made no difference to him as he had fun with everyone he played with. He had a Masters Degree in music, though he did not have to rely on charts. I learned a lot from him, as I do try to learn from every musician I come across.
how are you? Hope, you`re feeling good?! Thank you for your comment. In some days I´ll take time to hear your new tunes, momentary it´s so much to do....
