GeneralTEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE VIRAL PROMOTION Objective: Already handling their public relations efforts, Dark Sky Films, a division of MPI Home Video, were releasing their classic “Texas Chain Saw Massacre – Ultimate Edition DVD” and needed to reach their demographic before the street date the week of Halloween. Since the holiday was only 2 weeks away, the project had to be organized promptly. Solutions: R. Productions cast Hollywood newcomer David Skyler to star one of his popular viral video productions that has reached as many as half a million viewers. We brought Red Bull energy drink to the table to further branding efforts with in-video product placement. In the spirit of the Halloween holiday, the piece was shot later in the evening with Red Bull cocktails and pizza provided by APART with a small gathering of 20 or so industry insiders. Christening the production was a guest appearance by the Kreep with holiday prose. Work: * Casting * Pre Production * Production * Post Production * Photo Shoot * Logo Design * Interactive E-Card * Poster Design * Postcard Design * PR * Web Strategy (blogs, social sites, message board, e-blitz, viral video) Direct Mail Results: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Ultimate Edition DVD viral video quickly rose to the Most Recommended, Most Watched, and Most Featured YouTube videos in its category. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Ultimate Edition DVD is listed on Amazon’s Best Sellers list. “… the Ultimate, the zenith, the most exhaustive possible celebration and dissection of this horror classic. I’d even wager that no one will be able to put out a better one in the next 10 years…” - Fangoria “A-” - Entertainment Weekly
MusicFINCH & LILY a feature film Profits to benefit Poverty Reduction The Story FINCH & LILY is a story of human kindness victorious over desperation, isolation and poverty. Written with the simple and stark brilliance of BEING THERE and the universal uplifting appeal of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, the storybook characters are set in fanciful and imaginative physical neighborhoods in the style of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY yet they live in a Orwellian angst ridden and desperate world. Finch is a 40-something year old with style and generosity but noticeably traumatized by circumstance. We discover him one day in a transient hotel full of regular dwellers including Lily, a twenty-seven year old beauty imprisoned in her room by agoraphobia and posttraumatic stress. Despair and poverty pervade the hotel Starbrite and the surrounding neighborhood. A local Catholic poverty center and soup kitchen employs Finch. By 'being there' Finch uplifts the entire hotel residency, including himself, as he breaks the agoraphobic spell that has imprisoned Lily and withdrawn her beauty from the world. The story takes place between October and January including the celebrations of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Kwanza and Christmas. The Crew Richard O’Donnell (Producer/Writer) Richard is a playwright, producer, actor, and stand-up comic living in Chicago. He has worked and lived in New York City and Chicago where he has written and performed for the stage and television. O’Donnell wrote the award-winning off-Broadway musical comedy One & One, Radio City Music Hall’s A Manhattan Showboat, and co-founded the New Age Vaudeville theatre company, the New Variety cabaret, and produced/hosted R. Rated, the Chicago comedy/variety TV show. Katie Mahalic (Director) Katie is a native of beautiful and sunny Davison, MI, a small town outside of Flint, MI. While finishing her Master of Fine Arts at Columbia College Chicago in the department of Film and Video, she produced several Chicago-based commercials. Currently she teaches Screenwriting, Production I and Production II at Columbia College. The classes focus on the aspects of writing and directing short films. Her latest film, Michael Saints, a 15-minute short, is now being worked into a feature length script. It received the “Audience Award” for the Big Screen 13, Columbia Film Festival. Simultaneously, her film The Mole, a 10-minute short is circulating through domestic and international film festivals. The film has screened in the U.S, Canada, Australia, and has just recently been accepted to the Euro-Asian Film Festival held in Washington D.C. The Late Night Ride is Mahalic’s 5th short film and features senior citizens doing a hip hop routine in the middle of a small town bar. As musical director, coach and pianist, she has worked with Grammy Award-winning artist Cleo Laine, as well as Tony-Recipient Nathan Lane (The Producers). James is originally from Denver, Colorado, and has been actively involved in the field of music in many capacities, from composer/lyricist, to producer/arranger, and sound engineer. His musical score for The Wind in the Willows (written with wife/collaborator Dianne Adams and adapter/co-lyricist Gerardine Clark) was winner of 3 ASCAP awards following its New York City premiere at The New Victory Theater. James began music studies on trumpet, and later developed an interest in the guitar. He soon branched into arranging and composition, working in a variety of mediums from chamber-music groups to jazz orchestras. As composer and arranger, he created music for Shakespeare’s The Tempest and in collaboration with librettist/director, Jon Walter, he completed scores for 5 dramatic works. Finch & Lily, a feature film in development by Starbrite Pictures LLC, a division of R. Productions in Chicago, is allocating a percentage of it’s profits to feeding the poor. “We want to help Poverty Reduction,” states Co-Executive Producer Jason Christensen, “And producing Finch & Lily is part education/part call-to-action in that regard. People have got to know that 37 million Americans are living at or below the poverty level!”

Finch & Lily, penned by award-winning playwright Richard O’Donnell and directed by Katie Maholic, concerns a middle-aged Albert Finch who takes up residence at a Chicago transient hotel, The Starbrite. There he befriends agoraphobic Lily Crumb and an array of wonderful characters that benefit in odd and miraculous ways from his simply “being there”. But Finch has a secret that will alter their lives forever, bringing a little bit of heaven to the residents of the Starbrite hotel.

Co-Executive producer, Michael O’Donnell, sees Finch & Lily as the new It’s a Wonderful Life, “It’s an uplifting story about random acts of kindness, that is reminiscent of the glorious Frank Capra film fare of the 30’s and 40’s.”

Broadway composers Dianne Adams and Jim McDowell are tapped to score while stage, film and TV actress Megan Cavanagh is slated to star as Sister McGee.

Pre-production begins Fall 2009.

THANKS GIVING
T’detach such ripened folklore
brusque wings
stuffed n’ left ripe
liberty purged t’naught
as if ritual ghostly natives typify
stakes aflame n’ hands severed
to clear these from the table
t’glance about at faces known
family n’ friends
wishing t’be as one
that in nodded heads
soft whispers
pray thee
end all tyranny
power t’the ample
the few but never more
truly truly
this is t’be celebrated
in peace
a fresh
thanks giving
